Hi everyone, I just got my Mafia II today. Currently I'm trying to install this game. I got the CD, however Steam requires I have to log into their server, and then I got to download this 5GB+ of Mafia 2 content?? Why do I need to download them when I can install with the CD? What is the CD for? Anybody can give me step by step how to install Mafia 2? Appreciate your help. I want to play immediately and not waiting another 4 hours for download to complete to play.
I think if you have Steam running in the background, put the CD in and install with the CD and it should install on Steam. That worked for me anyway.

If its downloading on Steam and it's 5gig then it isn't installing with the CD. Try starting fresh. When your in Steam right click on Mafia II and delete local content. Now run the Mafia 2 CD and install with that. A Steam window should appear asking for the CD Key. Put it in and accept and it should activate it through steam but install from the CD. Once its installed there will only be a small download and then it will set up direct x and you should be ready to go. I hope this helps I suck at explaining things.

Hi AmBrew...Could you please help me understending what the hell hapens with this game.. Today i boutght the game but i'm still enable to play it becouse i can't install it... I've tried to do what you recomanded but it still doesn't work...I can't stand Steam...I don't understand why steam ? a normal game works with the cd but here? Tnkyou in advance..
Alright, I can try to help, first thing you have to do is install steam if you havnt already. After that log into your account.
Than place the CD in your drive. The instalation process should automaticly start once you insert the disk. If for some reason the install process doesn't start when u insert the disk go to "my computer" right click the drive you inserted the disk into and than click "run". This should start the installation process.
Than follow the on screen instructions. Make sure you have your Game CD key and not any DLC keys that may have came with the disk. Once you put in your CD key the game should than begin installing from disk.
After the game is installed just double click the mafia 2 shortcut on your desktop, or select it from your steam games section. It will than perform a 1 time setup of direct X and phys X.

I have downloaded this game from torrent.
It is an ISO file.
I extract it,and click on setup.Now a stream is open and starts some updation.
after updation it closes automatically.Now nothing happens when i click on setup or on stream. .
Please help me to install it.
