Settings used: 1920x1200, AA on, 16xAF, V-Sync on, everything else on High or On except for APEX PhysX which is off.

The game plays perfectly but for some reason I'm seeing what looks like screen tearing about a quarter of the way down from the top of the screen in the pre-rendered FMV cutscenes. I know these are FMV because the framerate shows as 30 fps whereas with the engine cutscenes it's 60 fps. V-Sync is on in the game and I've even tried forcing it on in the Catalyst Control Centre to no avail. Why is it only occurring in these cutscenes? I see no screen tearing anywhere else in the game.

Anyone else seeing this issue?

PS3 Playmate#46, clearly rember collecting her on my 1st play threw but it didnt register that i found her, and i try doing chapter select for Chapter7 and goto the aparment and it still doesnt show, allso tried deleting my save data and playing threw from start an yet #46 is still not there > and its really annoying as all i need is Playmate #46 inorder to get "Ladies man" Trophy and bingo thiers my Mafia2 Platnium, Plz address this problem a s it seems i'm not the only person who's having this problem an sure thier will be mainy others, Thanx in advance, allill short but Great Game

Problem: Game starts, splash screen comes, after that the screen with the copyright information and the PhysX advertisment. When the game is about to load, it just kicks you back to the desktop.

What I've tried so far: Install all new drivers... Please don't write again that we should try install new drivers that won't help. Install the game from DVD as well as later directly from Steam. Reinstalled Steam. Did the Resolution solution, didn't work-> then again we don't get any error message, we just get kicked out of the game! Reinstalled PhysX -> From Web and from the DVD. Direct X can't be installed since i have the DX 11. Giving admin permission to Mafia2.exe, checking the Steam if the Data is corrupt.. it wasn't.. nothing seems to work!

System used: 5770 HD ATI, i7 Intel Core 860, 4 GB DDR3, Win 7 64bit.
Everything up-to-date!

Since this problem is overshadowed by countless other problems, here are some quotes from people with similar issue. (beside the one with red screen, but maybe its the same)

As the title says I downloaded Mafia 2 off steam and try launching it but all it does is load the small splash screen logo then close itself out with no warning or error explanation, it just dissipates... Below are my DXDiag:

so... i bought just today mafia for pc, I installed the game after that asking me to start, then click on start, rather than starting completely changes the screen turns red ... and without starting the game! please help me ...
I also have Starcraft 2 and i have no problems with that so i would have abolished or at least put aside the thought that the PC is not powerful enough

hellow im really having a tough problem. lot of u guys actually were able to play though.

when i run the mafia2.exe a small splash screen comes with the mafia2 charachters. then it goes black and after exactly 4 seconds it just crashes to my desktop window.

I just installed Mafia II through Steam and I'm trying to play it and when I open it, the small Mafia II splash screen is displayed then the game opens, the copyright information screen shows then directly after that, the game crashes to the desktop without any error messages.

Can someone from 2K Games assist me with this? I really want to play Mafia II.

I played through the game once on hard & then went back through the chapters to get the trophies I had missed. I am sure I picked up the #46 Playboy on my first playthru but it isn't unlocked collectibles menu nor is it on the kitchen table in chapter 7 where it should be.

I spent 10 hour yesterday going back through the chapters finding all the Playboys (AND I HATE DOING COLLECTIBLE TROPHIES AT THE BEST OF TIMES), only to find the # 46 Playboy still missing.

I searched online to double check I had the location right. I did. I played through chapter 7 three times, going back to my kitchen at various points in the chapter to see if it had appeared. It hadn't.

I had put 50 hours+ into the game, both playing for the enjoyment of it (the first playthru) and then for trophy clean up. I had unlocked all the trophies except for the Playboys and wanted posters so to have this glitch prevent me from from unlocking the platinum after soooooo much time is beyond infuriating.

If anyone else has had this glitch and found a way around it (staff included) PLEASE message me as I can no longer even look at the game let alone play it anymore.

Mayor problem: Mafia 2 does not start.
The Game hangs up at the "3Head Symbol(Image)"

2 seperate ways how it hangs up:
1.: an Nvidia Install Prog start, because ist says that the Physx SDK is not installed, then it trys to install it.....hang up
2.: The Games wants to start....hang up..Windows 7 say the game has a problem, can not start, boot screen disapears.

My Computer Specs are:
Windows 7 64bit Version
Intel Core i5 750
Ram 8 Gig
Nvidia 275 gt

Drivers are all up to date.the physx prog updated to. the try to set it on the english language and set back.does not work for me.

I'm having this problem: after 1 hour of play, it starts to stutter than 15 in 15 seconds, and its very annoying.

I presume that's a memory leak or something like that.

Mafia 2 is a Superb game and this really need to be fixed!!!

Running the game in 1280x768 with everything maxed out except for Physx and Vsync:

min fps:43
avg fps: 50
max fps: 75

As you can see, my Pc can handle mafia 2 very well. This stutter is not its fault.

The bug is just after the part where you destroy the bar with steve and marty etc where you then have to go to the factory but when i get there the gate has been replaced with a ****ty wall and everything behind it is grey and the buildings have vanished. I have finished the game but nothing was wrong first time second time i get this graphics bug so i have to wait for it to be fixed.

Dont think anyone else has had this problem on this part so may happen to someone else soon .

Oh yes and it doesnt load the cutscene, instead it pulls the cam out as though its going to start it but then just stops with the cam looking over the wall and looking at the other guys with you standing there its very frutrating lol ive reset the mission and reset console but nothing still the same everywhere else is faultless for me.

Hi there, I brought the ps3 version of mafia 2 on frieday and played it the whole day saturday. However I'm stuck on loading screen when i reach chapter 14? after i handled the money back to the loan shark. I tried to replay that part several times and its all the same. The longest time i waited was like 30 minutes. The lights on my ps3 keeps flashing but the game just stuck at the black loading screen. Can you help or I'll return this game.

for some reason i can't continue on with the mission in chapter 14 after killing derek in the warehouse. i kill him and everyone else in there, then the prompt in the upper left of the screen tells me to collect the money. (no waypoint appears onscreen though) i go to derek's office and get the money off his desk, then no new objective appears. i go down the stairs and outside where those 2 guys are standing and they say something to me and walk off. after that i can't do anything. there's no waypoint or anything. i have restarted the mission several times from the beginning and this still happens every time. i'm playing the 360 version btw.

Ok i was playing the mission where you have to go and save joe and when i arrived at the mona lisa the door says push square to open the door of the restraunt so i did and it said it again so i pushed it and it did it again i was waiting a very long time for this game and now i cant move on until this bug is fixed im getting very tired of it I've returned mafia 2 and bought a new one to see if it was just my game and it wasn't it was a bug in every game I'm very upset that this game has all these problems. Hi ive restarted many times and the game freezes on chapter 15 everytime its the place where u go down stairs and shoot some guys u really need to fix this so i can play the whole game i didnt pay for 90% of a game

Texture pop in the game is quite bad eg far away objects just pop up in view when driving around in the city

sometimes after 20 min of play things just start to load too slow,buildings half seen and the cars just spawn in front of you...

This achievement for searching empire bays city for wanted posters just vanish, i tried to aquire 159 but they vanish when you reach 150+ i tried everything different chapters, resettting the game deleting save files, starting again but no luck i still encounter his.

I have a problem with the video in mafia II ingame. I just installed the game and downloaded all updates. However now when I open the game it's working perfectly but the video is horrible all the letters, buildings and so on are flashing and have enormous bright colors... Can anybody give me an advise how I could fix this? The performance of my computer is good enough for the game... Oh btw when I close the game after this problem with the flashing pictures the desktop is darker than usual. Whether I restart the computer or open and close another game it's normal again. So probably it changes something at my video adjustement...

After I parked tuned Potomac Indian in my garage (chapter 8) all actions in Body Shop with any car lead to CTD.

But if I destroy it in Bruski's press everything becomes allright! I can tune any car without problems!

I've investigated that this bug takes place every time when I take mission' npc car (e.g. chapter 12 - if i take black Windsor of false cop's; Smith Thunderbolt in chapter 14 and so on).

Those darn bugs in Chapter 14. Both the doors at Mona Lisa and Bruno are messed up. No one @ 2K just tested the game and came across those bugs? Jeez guys, what are we, paying customers or paying testers? I guess we are just the testers for you AND pay you guys about 50 euros? Thats great. Well, either refund my 48 euro's or release a patch please.

Maybe you have received this already but, here goes anyway. When it is time to look for Joe at the Mona Lisa, I followed the trail but can't enter the bar. It is still open for buisness with people inside eating. I read that you can't go in unless the windows are covered, so I restarted the chapter and tried it again but no luck. It just refuses to let me finish the game.

I know that this bug has been reported but when I get close to Bruno´s door, I can see what appears to be the door shining from the inside, I can see it by the fisure between the door and that little thing thru where the guard sees who wants to come into Bruno´s office or whattever.

Thanks for the excellent game, with some bugs though.
