Standard corporate practice innit - we're rich so we must know best; the customer is never right. Sweep them under the carpet and pretend they're not there.
They moved a mouse acceleration thread i started here to technical to bury it under the hundreds of other noob problem threads spawning every minute there even though it is a DESIGN problem, and there is nothing we can technically do about it. I'm really close to taking this game back.
you mean 2k liz didn't give a response within 12 hours of the launch? And Ken Levine didn't respond in the questions for the team thread?
Either way, most of the mods have never posted anyway, and the fact that it's the weekend now, I doubt any real answer will come, they're home relaxing. The mods closing/merging threads are mostly volunteer mods picked by 2k Liz and in no way work for 2k boston.
Most of them would rather not respond at all. I managed to get a response from a mod via PM when I attacked another forum member via "harsh language" when he was being dumb. Short of that good luck trying to get a response that will answer anyhting.
Please note the forum moderators (mods) are volunteers who don't know anything about the tech stuff in the game. And as such only moves, deletes or closes threads. Elisabeth from 2K (the admin) seems to know a bit more than the moderators.
As for the devs. not responding, well, Ken Levine went out pretty quickly when the DRM issue became known to the public and people voiced their concerns about it. I have never ever seen a game developer's boss do this.
Never.
I have also never ever seen a boss from (major) game developer like Irrational Games (now 2K Boston) start a thread (the 'a note from Ken levine thread' on the game's forums to ask people not to tell other people spoilers about the game. I just wish someone at other forums had done the same...
Ken Levine also promptly told people within hours (I think) that they were looking into the widescreen thing. I have never ever seen a developer do this before. And I have at least played gamed since 1997 or so. Back in the Interplay and Black Isle days and in the old Bioware days, devs. would do the same. But it has become rare today. It has even become sort of standard to not say 'yes, we know there's an issue, but we're looking into it'. Ken Levine admitted that there were problems and they are working on them.
However, some of you also need to understand that when you solve a problem in a game, 10 more usually crops up. Hence, it could take a while before everything is ironed out.
I'm sorry- for everyone that has trouble playing this game, be it on the PC or the Xbox 360. But I'm confident that the problems will be solved, hopefully quickly - or at least as quickly as possible.
are people actually having problems with the game on the 360? i read through the widescreen thing and it really didnt seem to be a problem to me or others i know using widescreen displays. Are there other problems out there?![]()
The SecureRom thread is ridiculous, they can't really expect anyone to go through over 150 pages to read all the problems, solutions, requests and everything else relating to it just to find what they consider relevant.
Oh wait, of course they don't they just want to burry it or sweep it under a huge carpet.
You mean like this response?

or this one?

etc.![]()
Are you really into keeping a thousand threads so that the decision-makers might never even see your post?
Yeah. Let's just go back that way -- the forum was a lot more useful when threads about the same subject ran off the first page in minutes. </sarcasm>
We really don't have answers; we are, as BioShockWins says, "normal people"We have instructions on how to keep the forum tidy, so it's not really our concern whether a thread thrives or gets pushed down in the noise. I'm sure 2K and Irrational are keeping a close eye on the various queries, they're online a lot of the time and are probably working hard to address the issues - you may just not see the results of it yet because like Ken has said, this kind of thing takes days and weeks not hours.
I do keep up with as much of the threads as possible but I don't post that often because really, I haven't had much to say. I haven't had a chance to play the game yet so I can't yet jump into the discussion about it which I'm dying to do.
My original post was done in haste; you're certainly correct in that collecting and passing information takes time. I would hope you would understand, though, that with the exception of Ken Levine, virtually all of the responses from 2K thus far have seemed to be designed to limit PR damage rather than actually helping people who've bought the game -- to me anyway. And even Levine's response about "eventually" removing the online activation was of little help (in 5 years? or 10? what happens if 2K goes out of business before then?).
Anyway, thanks for your response.
Not only that, they're closing threads that seem to attack their decision to use SecuROM. No explanations given.
no they consolidate because it ruins the forum for other members who arent having any technical problems and just want to talk about the game
(like me)
They're stil sorting out issues. Given them time.
There may be some truth to what the OP said, but it's negated by the fact that responses have been given towards the two most vocal issues already (thus they have took them on board and are looking into things).
It is the weekend too btw in case you hadn't noticed. If the situation still stands by next weekend then I think we have a major problem.
As much as we moan/grumble and curse - someone somewhere HAS to work on those patches and fixes and can't magically work 50 hour days to do so, people in the game industry are driven hard enough most of the time without those kinds of expectations.
They have ☺☺☺☺ed up royally on the launch, Ken admits that, they may even have cut corners intentionally and yes they are now rolling in the $$$ but that doesn't mean they are definitely NOT going to sort your problems.
They just need a bit more time...
