Luckily, I didn't install it right away. It's still in the box over on the kitchen counter. I had heard scary stories about online activation, and this morning decided to look into it. The worst part of Half Life to was duct taped to my new toy, with the added bonus of the heinous SecuROM.
Looks like I won't be installing it after all.
My receipt says I have 30 days to return it unopened. I'm patient. The 360 version has been up on the torrent sites for more than a week, and the PC version has been floating around since Monday. So, 2K, developer of my dreams, maker of memories, you have 30 days to fix this mess and at least get rid of SecuROM before you no longer get my money. I'll play this game one way or another, the crackers will poke holes in your silly protection eventually, but I'd much rather put my $50 in your pocket.
Sorry it had to be this way.
