Incredibly Low FPS

I am extremely excited about Mafia II finally being released, as I am a huge fan of the first game. I've talked about Mafia II for years and years. However, I recently ran the demo and ended up getting an average frame rate of .7 on this computer with all the settings on low, and all the settings turned off that can be turned off. The specs are listed below:



Intel (R) Pentium (R) D CPU 2.80 GHZ
2.0 GB RAM
500 GB Hard Drive
GeForce 7300LE graphics card


I also have a laptop that runs the game at an average of 10 FPS. This is the link to my laptops specs:

I would really love to be able to play this game without it feeling as if it is in slow motion. I will replace hardware if necessary; if the price isn't too hefty. Any help solving my FPS problem will be much appreciated.

Buy a better gpu, I think that's the only problem on the configuration you've given.

Yeah, the minimum GPU requirement is a "nVidia GeForce 8600 / ATI HD2600 Pro or better". But I'd suggest going with the recommended of "nVidia GeForce 9800 GTX / ATI Radeon HD 3870 or better".

None of them are overtly expensive. (nothing you wouldn't be able to earn in a week, or beg your parents for )

Fantastic, thank you for your input! Do you think I'll be able to get a decent graphics quality with the new card as well, or will it just be runnable?

Pentium D is v..very old now, a new graphics card might be bottlenecked or not even be c..compatible with the motherboard, plus you m..might need a new psu aswell.

To be on the safe side check if the mobo has a PCI-E x16 slot and the psu can feed a newer card. Mixing old and new parts is usually a bad idea.

Otter380, u have to upgrade everything in ur desktop. Or upgrade ur video card and wait for video tweaks (like shadows=off).

But u might be lucky with ur laptop (also +tweaks).

The laptop has an 8200m and the desktop 7300 are below minimum specs for the game. Both cards are not even gaming cards. New computer or console, these are your best bets.
