    Car damage

Why is the car damage so light? I'm running the PC demo, everything on high, yet even after a hard hit into another car the damage is minimum... am I missing a setting? I can drive 100mph and hit a truck sideways, and the car's side looks like it has the fender bent. What's up with this?

I know exactly what you mean man :[ Like the best damage I have encountered was when I T-Boned a cop car doing 120mph and it's doors fell off and one of it's back tires fell off.

Someone posted pictures on here, can't find the thread, of cars being heavely damaged, but they mentioned it wasn't turned on by default. So I'm wondering if there is a setting?

When you hit a car at ten mph and then hit a brick wall at 100 mp3 and the damage is indistinguishable, That's a problem. The way panels damage but the body doesn't even fold or compace makes this damage reminiscent of the GTA II era.

Wait; is that kind of crashing in the demo? Where the fudge is the option for it?

there is no option for damage, unless it's something that can be changed in the PC version, but the damage in some of those pics looks very OTT.

If I drive 100mph, hit the brake and put the side of the car head-on into another truck, then yes, my car SHOULD look like those pics... not some small fender that's bent.

    do backup folder cars

    -rename lassiter_69_destr.sds to lassiter_69.sds

-and if you wand another bonus car, rename shubert_38_destr.sds to lassiter_69.sds

Yes, it looks weird, but if you rolled your car in reality, that's what it might look like.

On a side note, in Mafia one if the gas tank was shot, once, it could cause a leak... I havn't been able to replicate this in the demo. Suppose to be this way? I hit the tank with 2 shots and BOOM goes the car.

dont think there are leaking tanks in Mafia 2, they just go boom if you hit the right spot.

that sucks, was a feature I loved in the first one. But at least cars run out of gas... unlike the nuclear power cars of GTA4 lol.

I've deleted "lassiter_69_destr.sds" file, so I'm not sure if it's because of that but i managed to deform some car. I haven't tried it before deleting "lassiter_69_destr.sds" file, so my question is. Did someone managed to deform car like this withoud deleting/renameing files.?

Yes you can deform a car like that without file editing. You just have to crash every single part of the car to it's scripted max. The roof is the hardest; but the giant ramp by the bridge took car of it.

I did manage to totally trash a few cars but not to the extent of those shots, and yes the jump is good but can be fatal

best one was watching another car smack into the trashed one and take off a door, job done

Tnx. Btw, I was jumping over some stairs at the docs, turned over, and then just continued to destroy it by ramming it with other car while this one was turned over. And also hit some parked car at full speed...

I was lucky to get it that damage. I'm suprised I survived the jump (which is my main suicide at the end of timer technique) but it was soo vool. I took off right from the mod shop and by the ramp I was going 90 (in a Shubet Beverly) and I launched off the ramp. The car arced and flipped so that the roof of the car collided witrh the angled roof of a cheap house, then the car flipped forward and hit the trunk off the other side of the house roof; then the front hit the second story of the house across the street; then the car fell on one side in the street and rolled onto it's wheels. All I had to do then to get full damage was slide the other side into a wall.

Yeah I go straight from the mod shop to the ramp, but I had the Beverly tuned to sports tuning gave her some nice tires, but I hit the wall

Were you at top speed all the way? Did you hit anything? It's not hard to get over the wall with a good head start in a good car. I've actually gotten over the road, the two houses and the dirt cul de sac and landed on the paved raod bordering greenfeild, but I was in a top moded Thunderbolt.

Well I start from where the mod shop is, and wasn't at top speed so that didn't help. But I'm trying it now in my fully moded Denby Pink and Zanda Blue Thunderbolt

Edit: made it over the bridge and one house to the first road above the bridge at 100 after hitting a sign mid air

The Vehicle damage is pretty good, but not the best I've seen.I'd say out of all the games I've played GTA IV has the best Vehicle damage.Dent's,Scratches, the whole shabang. But this game is pretty good I'd say

Wait does that make the damage a lot better?

It seems no one has really responded to this..

    cars

don't forget, cars that were built in that era were built ALOT better than cars that are built today. however, driving at 100 miles an hour and t-bone-ing another car sould make the car look like the last crap u took

As i see it, there are only two cars which are hidden in the demo. These are because the fat man arives in one, and outside the appartment there is another but you cannot steal it while in a mission...

They are both old cars, (Schubert '38) and the Walker Coupe. You can rename

'walter_coupe.sds' or 'shubert_38_destr.sds' to 'lassiter_69.sds' at different times to be able to access them from your garage, it replaces the lassister car though- however, you could always rename them to cars that drive about by pedestrians replacing those cars.

It's pretty cool. Alot slower paced than the modern cars of 1950's esspecially as they're almost 20 years old in this demo :O
