PS3 Demo/Game Issues
Mod Edit Feel free to post any PS3 demo related issues in here:
Jack can choose to ignore this all he wants but there's a serious problem here, don't believe me? Forget these forums go over to the official ps3 forums and see for yourself.
A LOT of people are having problems with the framerate and screen tearing on PS3 (particuarly when driving or in a 'busy' action scene)
Will this be patched or are you going to deny that it exists?
edit: I want to let you know I do LOVE this game, the gameplay, music, atmosphere it was all great in the demo. But this frame rate is so bad it's bordering the point where it's not worth playing it unfortunately.

I hope they fix it, Im really looking forward to it on PS3!
I demand the game being good. Fix this 2K.
I love game but framerate kills this game. in house, gunfight... framerate is like 20fps all the time. fix demo, i want to see that and then i can buy game
If they don't even "investigate" this issue I will be extremely peeved.
I just think its a kick in the nuts really. Does 2K really expect us to buy this Single Player game only, with problems like these ? They say that MP is not necessary and adding to that, the time they might lose on MP is the time to perfect SP ... Yeah, right ...
No MP and a SP as bad as this ...
You better fix it.
Damn Skippy! I totally agree!

x360 owners said that they got AA and no framerate problem in ps3 framerate forum...

360 tears quite badly, but because its lighter outside you dont notice it so much, indoors it tears significantly though and you do notice it. The framerate is also a little bit dodgy, but not significantly. When it gets busy then it does drop and you do notice it but it never quite crawls along bad enough to render the game really unplayable.

Yeah i also had alot of framerate issues during the fire/distillery areas, also especially in the room just before you go up the elevator and in that room as you enter you have to take cover, the framerate makes it feel in slow motion a bit.
Please check this out as it isn't great, however.. i am still buying the game but i think you could at least look at the slow downs.
if in full game frame rate will be bad, i will not buy this game
im very dissapointed
I've been watching this forum for months, but i never really was interested in register in it, but now seeing all of this going on i felt i had to subscribe just to be one more voice speaking out here.
Anyway, i didn't had the chance to play the demo yet 'cause i'm from Portugal and i'm not a PSN "gold" (or whatever the name is) member. Although, i really got surprised by all of the negative aspects pointed to the ps3 version. I already had the oportunity to see the pc version on youtube and it's awesome in every way. But as it seems the ps3 version is not
I mean, i didn't had the chance to play it, or see it, but if things really are the way everyone's saying they are, i'm just going to cancel my pre-order on this game.
It's 70 euros i'm going to spend it's no joke! I'm not rich. So every money i save i spend on quality products (only!).
Tomorrow i will have the opportunity to play the demo for myself, but if things are really the way everyone's saying they are, and if non of the dev say anything to us (relyable info) i'm going to cancel my pre-order right away and start looking for other games to spent my money in. I don't want to, i really don't. I loved watching the Pc version. I want that on PS3! I demand that, or at least the FPS, tearing and AA problems solved! Otherwise, the whole great experience everyone from 2k was talking about will just disappear. Just like that. I've been following the game since 2007! And i always saw it as my dream game! But this.. I'm so disappointed...
If things are this bad and if the dev don't do anything about it, or saying anything to us, the PS3 users, then i won't buy it.. Sorry..
I just got a question abot the PS3 Demo, does someone with ps3 NOT got any problems with the demo? I've read in the forum for the last couple of hours, and all i've seen is whininh about the ps3 demo
Sorry for my bad english
I've already brought this up with the team. Any news you'll hear as soon as I get it.
As a side note: Be respectful on this forum, and don't open new threads when there is already an existing topic.
As long as they realise that even if they cant make the PS3 version look identical to the 360 one, There is no shame in toning it down just a tad here and there to at least make it playable. I think everyone would agree a pretty but unplayable game is not better than a fuglier but slick smooth experience.

Unplayable on PS3 for me due to the massive FPS drops
That's good to hear, I'm counting on this game to entertain me until the latter months of the year (until the new fallout game releases) and unless this game has a good framerate on PS3 I dont think it will.

Just why is there no blood in the ps3 demo ?

Okay, I have the demo, everything works perfectly except some pop in and the fact that there are jagged edges. As for blood I am unsure, haven't really paid much attention.
The Ps3 version is even worse than i feared.......Its been pared back quite a lot already, the shadow draw distances, model draw detail, the texture filtering, the grass, O M G the grass! The grass is just a flat horrible looking texture. All of it. On 360 and Pc its proper 3D grass, here it is something out of a PS2 game. This is a freaking epic disaster for PS3 its bayonetta all over again. Not only is the image quality shockingly poor the framerate still manages to be worse than its 360 compatriot.
Its a Jagtastic, fuzzy, chuggy mess. God forbid the final product comes out like this, it'll be slaughtered and rightly so
I mean wow, just wow. Didnt expect this. It hurts worse that i have been playing the Pc version and 360 version today and only just got my hands on the Ps3 version on the very same TV setup to get a nasty unwelcome shock.

Hey guys, don't worry, they won't sell a broken product, I'm sure that final game will be perfect.
Played the 360 and ps3 version and heres what i noticed:
the grass is very flat on the ps3 version, where as its 3D and actual grass on the 360
The frame rate on the ps3 is not as bad as people made out for me, i played the demo 5 times and only experienced very bad frame rate once, which happened when there was a lot of action, overall the framerate is not a issue at all.
The screen tear is as bad on both versions
The graphics are around the same, not much of a difference, except form the grass they are identical
sound is the same and performance is around the same
Theres jaggies on both version
The pop in is a little worse on the ps3 version, like in the 360 version the cars spawn quite far away so its not bad, but on the ps3 sometimes 1 to 3 cars would spawn closer to you, not very bad but still a problem.
Also theres less frame rate issue on the 360.

Luckily its not as bad as you made it out to be, like you ive tested both and guess what? except from the grass and minor framerate issue on the ps3 they are the same!

This game might be a rent for me. The demo was fun but I'm definitely experiencing screen tearing and frame rate drops like others have mentioned. I also have minor audio problems with the in-game dialogue. When Joe talked during the gunfight he sounded all robotic. Regarding the controls, it would be nice if there was control scheme with R2/L2 with R1/L1 switched.
Its exactly as i made it out to be. which is the tragedy here. All the major settings are turned down a notch or two on PS3, The first thing you notice is the aliasing on PS3. Its much worse than on 360. Then you step outside and see the 3D Grass and foliage everywhere is simply a flat lo res green texture. Then you drive down the road and notice details pop in much closer, roadside details, other cars and probably the least pleasant looking, shadow detail. Very noticeable on tree shadows but especially if you have left tyre mark on the road they disappear quickly behind you but drive down the road again and they draw in yards away. Texture filtering is also noticeably poorer on PS3, the textures themselves are the same but the filtering is cut back.

If you only have a Ps3 then i guess you will not care about how much the settings are turned down versus other versions. You got nothing to compare against after all. But you certainly will notice the screentearing and framerate which is why this is full of said posts. If you have a choice, avoid the PS3 version if the full version is not improved significantly on this demo

Ok I have only tried the PS3 demo so far, so I can't really compare to any other platform, but I still can see some issues and it makes we wonder which platform I should preorder this on.
As far as in the house, walking, driving the framerate stays the same. I've read that people have experienced a drop when driving. This is not the case for me, or maybe I'm just not noticing it but I think not because it gets really bad once the mission starts:
On the second floor in the destillery the game lags up incredibly, it's like someone else said here: it's slow motion almost. However once I have killed the 4-5 guys on the second floor then it just pops back to the normal and runs as smooth as before. What's weird is that on the first floor there are actually More enemies, so it would appear that the amount of enemies Wouldn't be the problem. Yet still the framerate goes back to normal After you have killed all of them on the second floor so on the other hand it seems like it has something to do with it strangely enough.
I feel some comfort that Elizabeth has taken it up with the team, but you gotta wonder: Wasn't this present in the Beta testing? Did PSN just simply get a bad copy? Because from what I get, this problem is non exisiting on Xbox 360? There should have been a public beta months ago, then all of this could have been avoided in time. We are less than 14 days away from US release, so it's probably not going to get fixed Before release (i.e. that the problem would be solved on the disc itself), but more likely through some sort of patch, but I am having a hard time seeing how that would be possible as it is a performance issue rather than a bug or glitch.
But could someone also answer this straight: Is it the same (as I describe it above) on Xbox 360? Because then I might actually pick it up for that platform instead (got a PS3 preorder atm).

Im not having any problems at all with my PS3 demo
I spent a lot of time this morning reading this forum. I was absolutely shocked when people reported major problems with the PS3 demo. I nearly canceled my pre-order with Amazon, to be honest.
Rest assured, though, that people have grossly exegerrated the problems. I downloaded the demo about 2 hours ago and I have yet to see any problems. The game runs smoothly and looks quite beautiful. I have a few issues with the controls, but the PS3 demo (version?) is NOT broken. Far from it, in fact. I can't wait until August 24th!
i've played the ps3 and xbox 360 demo. and the 360 demo is better. in ps3 demo: no grass, in the second cut scene vito looked wierd when he in the frame with the other dude when the camera was focusing on the other dude, the city looked better on 360. i was so hyped for the ps3 version w/ will the exclusive DLC but i'm thinking about canceling it for ps3 and getting 360 version. however the character models did look a bit better on ps3
I agree with jhollis505
I joined this forum pretty much to ask one question, why such a tone down for the PS3 version? I own both consoles so I of course wanted to test how it would perform on each separately. At first they seemed similar, until I realized that the ps3 version has weaker texturing, simpler graphics, duller coloring, and more questionable physics. When I run on the 360 my coat flails around in the wind while the background blurs and shakes, on the PS3 the coat is glued to my body and lack of blur makes movement look stupid. When i shoot an NPC on the ps3, there is a curious lack of a blood pool. No clothing module, few effects, WTF(respectfully)? This of course has been addressed many times, but yet has a firm answer come along. It cant be fixed now, but I(likely along with many) expect a patch or something to optimize processing power for the play station. After so much delay and polish, I really hope that this isn't the final build. If your fortunate enough to have both platforms like me, buy the 360 version and disregard that bald headed DLC. Or better yet, get a gaming pc.
PS: I'm not trying to be a troll, no console wars intended. I realize that these are not game breakers, but its these little details that detract from realism, and have no business being omitted from any version of the game.
Get with the program 2K, please help us out so we dont get the worst Mafia II version, WE ARE AS LOYAL AS THE REST
Agreed, theres no reason for us getting the worst version.

I agree with you guys, this is horrible.
I will cancel my order unless I see a fix for this or a PLAYABLE demo.
Cause as it is now, it's barley playable...
Theirs a war going on at PSU AND PS3 forums LOL this forum will be invaded if 2K dont start answering.

- Screen Tearing/low FPS. It's really bad, grass vanishes then reappears as you're driving, same with tree's. And when you cross the bridge (at a reasonably high speed say 50-60mph) the bridge itself and the sky line get these black lines all across it as if the image itself is being pulled apart, I'm not a tech head so I don't know what this is sorry
FYI we had a similar experience to the bridge when inside buildings, if you turned your characters head/the camera to quickly black lines would appear along the interior.
- Another bug we all came across was that when being arrested by police, unless you're on a flat surface when you go down on your knee's your legs end up under the ground kinda funny but kinda annoying at the same time.
- Pedestrians seem delayed in reacting to you pointing a gun at them, they do react but it takes a few seconds for it to register.
- And the final bug was when robbing the diners and stores, even if you change your clothes and car if you go back the guy who works their recognises you. Which is fine but even after bribing the cops if the guy who works there ever looks at you again the police are automatically on your tail for some reason and you have to keep bribing them over and over.
There's more but these were the three main ones being complained about^
FYI I joined here to report these problems because I was told this is the official forum and the guys who make the game might check it out, is this true or have I been had? lol
