    Bioshock SecuROM breached

Yes this thread balances on a thread of whats against the piracy rule here on these forums or not, but hey, its only a freshly created forum account...

So there is a pirated "official" version of bioshock released today, circumventing the SecuROM protection.

It took longer then usual ( a few days), its here anyway. So much for all the pain 2k have decided to put on all the legal costumers. I hope 2k thought it was worth it. I personally have no plans to either try and download it. I would have bought it without the extra protection, but no I don't care for it any longer, for the same valid arguments put forward in another thread here on the front page right now.

lol.. I totally expected this to happen.
More so because of their iddiocy on protection. using Securom was just asking for a hack.. its like challenging the consumer to prove them wrong.

same here. I would have bought it if not for a combination of issues...Securom being only one of them.

As it is now, I stll want to play the actual game.....I just won't be paying for it until I know for sure my Big Daddy will be intact and replaced if now, securom wont give me hassles, activation will go smoothly etc etc.....

havent ruled out buying it yet.......if I could just find my GF's passport...she promised to buy it for me lol.....but even then I think I'd tell her to keep the money for something more worth it

    What's pathetic?

I'll be playing it using a thing called a mouse and a keyboard connected to my PC.

raising a 10 feet wall would only increase the need for 12 feet ladders

I happen to like the game very much and could care less about all these issues that will eventually be fixed or already are being worked on. You truly are missing out on a great game. It works perfect on my machine. I bought it off Steam (it was actually my first purchase off Steam) and everything has went flawlessly. It did take awhile to download, but it saved me a long drive to buy it.

Zandaret, I don't think he's planning on pirating the game. It sounds more like he is saying that he plans on buying it and playing it later, but as of right now the various issues related to the title are deterring him from making the purchase. I didn't read anything in his post that said he was going to get it illegally. Just a bunch of stuff on how he planned on waiting a bit.

If this is true, we will finally see the end of these thieves posting on this board. Whew. Ahh, then they get to put a hacked exe produced by other thieves on their system...and they were worried about securerom?? haha. good luck guys and hopefully good riddance. peace.

Scarcus, thieves really don't care about securerom. I have a friend who hasn't legitimately bought a game in probably three years and he really could care less about securerom. It never gets in his way regarding any product.

A lot of the people that do worry about securerom and the limited number of installations you can do with Bioshock are, I'm afraid to say, consumers that plan to purchase the game in a legal fashion. I like Irrational Games, and I like their product. I respect their multiple years of dedication to Bioshock and I have no problem paying them in order to play their product. Unlike my friend, I care about the fact that a hundred guys slaved for four to six years to make this thing, and I wouldn't cheat them a dime.

Yet, I don't like securerom and its insidious qualities. Thus, I'm left with one option: just not buying the game until the issues are resolved. I don't get to experience Bioshock at all save the 360 demo (fear of stuttering issues keeps me from making the 360 purchase I'm afraid).

I'm sorry you find some of the community's concerns about securerom to be vexing, but please don't label all of us as thieves. I hate pirates, and I don't mind seeing people try to counter them. However, this was too much. It only punishes consumers like myself. Hackers just get around it and are home free, while we have to deal with installation limits and rootkits.

I haven't seen a cracked copy yet. Where did you find one?

P.S. - My computer can't play this game, and I have already beat the game on the 360, so don't think I want to pirate the game.
