    Question Need an answer

hey everybody, i am new here to this forum, but as much as you i have waited for this game for far too long, hopefully it is coming so soon

Someone on youtube commented on my video of Mafia 2, he advised me to check the forum, and also told me to play Mafia 1 and that it was great, and i did, it looks awesome and good, but i got to ask will Mafia 2 have races like Mafia 1 ?!

I maybe not a good driver but i have been so frustrated with my 1st race of 5 laps, i had to do it about 20 time, tried every difficulty and ended up playing it on so easy, i am ashamed at myself, i play games on hard or normal, but this just got me down, so i wanted to ask it and i hope the answer will be no

anyway thanks in advance, and i know for sure that Mafia 2 will be a really great game, and i can't wait to get it on PS3

I haven't heard of anything, so to be honest I have no idea. Though I don't think so, since there's no racetrack on the map

I doubt there will be another racing mission, seeing as how many were annoyed by the first one.

Lol, no. You aren't. That mission was a *****, and had to get a patch to beat it. HATED that mission. Loved the rest of the game, though

I would welcome a racing mission as long as it were set in the 50s, the racing mission in M1 was a pain in the ass due to it's length, and the poor handling of the early 1930's racecar's.

I've been hearing so much about this race mission that now I'm truly intrigued. Was it really that hard? I'm pretty good at racing games so I'd like to think that I wouldn't have a problem with it, hopefully some day I will get to play it.

It was VERY hard. I laso enjoy racing sims, mainly Gran Turismo and Grid.

you can't turn, you will probably have your car turning around itself, sometimes i hit something and i fly on the air 180* then landed again and continue driving lol

Oh yeah that mission was a serious pain in the ass, i actually stopped playing mafia 1 cause i couldnt beat it .I really hope there are no BS racing missions in mafia 2, one of the reasons i dont like GTA games is because you have to do these ridiculous racing missions that realistically have nothing substantial about adding to the storyline or theme of the game.Like i mean a wiseguy has no interest in becoming the next David Schumacher ffs.

It's weird, the first time i played Mafia back in 2002, the race mission was a pain in the ass for me as well. Tried it many times over and over again untill I finally managed to win the race. But when I picked up the game again a few years later... the race mission was peanuts, I won by miles... Since a few days I've played Mafia again before Mafia II's release, and again , the race was peanuts. And it was the 1.0 retail version, not the patched one.
I guess you really need to "feel" the cars. It may take a while before you manage to stop crashing them, it needs some kind of subtlety, but when you get the hang of it, it really isn't that hard.

I only started playing Mafia I for the first time a few days ago, I beat the race on my second try, I don't do an all out attempt at winning on the first try, I use it to see how the vehicals handle and how the opposition react, I admit to being on easy level but it was still touch and go, after I rammed some off the road, got past the 2nd, the lead car gave me a run for my money, I thought I was going to have to try a third time because I could see the winning line with the lead car just ahead of me, but I clipped his back wheel, seriously I'm not into races, but that was a thrilling finish!

there is a sneaky way to complete this mission and win. quite easy when you know how..u take a short cut to beat the other cars to the finish line.
all the other missions i liked..just that one really stuck in my craw.
it was good how you had to walk sarah home afterward...i hope there is a similar mission in M2...i think there is, from a video i saw on youtube..i would love to have a back street brawl with hoodlums

Proof that you'll also have those effects (like moving cloth) on an ATI - http://multiplayer.it/video/mafia-2-...oanteprima.lo/

if you mean the APEX PhysX effects then yes you will have to get an Nvidia card, if you want to max it you'll need two, one just for PhysX....

PS3 does have/use Physx, just not the same as PC.

demo is out in just over a week, try both..

    With pleasure sir:
Drive up to the first checkpoint and slow down. Behind the boulders is a short patch of sand where you can drive onto the closed road. This of course is the "wrong way" and if you plan to go through it, you will be faster but not complete the lap. You will not win unless you do the following. Drive up to the end of the road, just past the "Dunniel" (or something similar) sign, where you get your checkpoint information and select "Replace Car" (default is [Keypad 0]). The goal is now just a few inches away. You must to do this five times. By doing so, you can finish the race in a little less than six minutes.

I am not 100% sure, but I think this will work only for an unpatched version of original Mafia game. It has been replaced with the difficulty levels you choose. (So even if the cheat doesn't work for the higher version of Mafia, you should be able eyes closed pass the race with easy level on).
But try to enjoy it. You won't see 30th race cars on a track now.

Don't know why everyone had a problem with the racing mission. Beat it first time and had a new lap record every lap.

Did people race with automatic gears? I really didn't find the race that hard, but with manual gears one could extract more power out of the engine...

There's a good reason why you never see an automatic racing car.

For me, it is not the problem to lose a mission ten times, it's means it just is quite challenging, and challenging is the case of race mission in first mafia (when there wasn't ability to change difficulty - even though I play it on extreme every time).
Problem would be totally unplayable mission.

That's also the reason I play Mafia on manual.
