as much as i like fontaine for supplying me with nifty "power to the people" stations, that was before Ryan tells you the truth. after that, i was all for ryan. if it wasnt for someone like fontaine who wanted power for himself, rapture couldve worked out. i kinda felt bad for Ryan for being put off as the "bad guy" when i found out it was realy fontaine/atlas who was the bad guy.

I would side with Ryan but just to help the other side...

Fontain couldn't have got all his power if there wasn't a need for him. The people were smuggling in bibles and crosses! Ryan responded by putting 'the parasites' in apollo square then quickly resorted to hanging.

It commited his own share of wrongs. Fontain simply capitilized on that for his own goals.

Ryan all the way. He was a man with a dream who made his dream happen, only to have someone come along and turn it into a nightmare.

Fontaine is just a jackass :P.

thats one thing i love in games/movies/anything; when they "establish" people as good and bad, and then they reverse it. you find out the "bad guys" are were the good guys all along, and the "good guys" are the real jerks.

Well I never like to be lied to, a funny example was KOTOR when I found out I was really the sith lord so I kill my mates so that is my reason why I hate foutaine but ryan I don't necessarily agree with, he was a dictator but he had a pretty cool saying.

Ryan is a complex character. He had a dream, he made it into a reality, and while he certainly did some bad things, you have to have some sympathy for the guy. It isn't his fault Fontaine, a rather boring and generic bad guy, came around and ruined it all for him.

In all honesty, I would love to team up with Ryan in Bioshock 2, maybe to reclaim rapture. He is your father after all.

Yes, that would be pretty awesome. It would also open up a option for co-op. Even online possibly, like GoW.

Neither. Ryan had ome nice ideas but he started doing some pretty messed up ☺☺☺☺ towards the end. If anything I'd side with Atlas, of course fontaine was a complete bastard but the ideas touted by his Atlas persona were pretty good. Also found myself really liking the Bill Mcdonaugh (sp) character too.

I'm very certain that if it wasn't for Atlas becoming Atlas in the first place, Ryan would never had begun the Apollo Sq. incident. Although, I was a bit mad when Ryan called me a slave :'(

Ryan was also a very bad man and obviously selfish as he created a selfish city. Even if Fontaine didn't come along someone else would've. Ryan in a sense created Fontaine by creating a city on the idea of screw everyone else only work for yourself and not the betterment of everyone.

Neither. Fontaine was a lying ☺☺☺☺☺☺☺, but Ryan is the one who gave him his power.

It took both of them to ruing the city - I have more sympathy for Ryan, as he built it, of course, but that doesnt excuse anything he did.

No, I'm on neither of their sides - There were plenty of people who really believed in rapture till the end, and it would have been their sides I was on if I had a choice.

Ryan and Fontaine had it coming - you could say it was all Fontaine's fault, but wasn't Ryan always going on about how a man controls his own destiny, actions, and choices? So no excuses.

Ryan was an idealistic fool. Fontaine was a realist who saw the opportunity and took it.

although anyone could tell that a city at the bottom of the middle of the open ocean would never work, his vision was a good one, he wanted a place were there was no stress of having to care of anyone but urself, so while it was foolish of him to think this would work, thats no reason that he should have been killed off under fontaines power

so i vote for ma boi ryan

  24. #24
ryan was my dad (Jack) so I kinda have to side with him...

and Fontaine's lies really pissed me off along with: (a message he screamed at me when i became a big daddy)

"That old bastard Ryan got one thing right, you don't even walk without someone else saying GO!!!"- this pissed me off more than anything... but onyl because he was truly right

I'm going to go with Ryan, any normal person can be pushed to extremes. He just happened to have built an undersea paradise where he holds all the cards, life is perfect. No one is having a big problem about it and his city is flourishing. Then a new scientific resource comes into the hands of his competitor, one that can make people skinny, stop aging, and shoot balls of fire from their hands. The competitor happens to be a stereotypical mobster with the intent to take over his city. He gathers up the poor who could not make it in Ryan's system, and gives them superhuman powers. Now, his world comes crashing down, he's left with a ruined city and a shattered dream.

I'd go bonkers too, that doesn't make him evil.

I'M FOR MR. BUBBLES AND THE LITTLE SISTERS. So I guess that's +1 for Ryan, though the Little Sisters and me wanting to help them goes against Ryan...

I voted Ryan, as I found him a more respectable sort of douchebag than Fontaine... you could say the former was a dreamer, the latter was just another schemer... but Ryan betrayed his own ideals as I saw them. Rational self interest implies respect for that drive in others, and I think in the end he trampled upon a lot of people.

HEres an idea what if he took only the intelligent and had them make machines to do normal working class jobs. If they could modify DNA they could certainly make a robot that cooks. That way the society MIGHT be able to survive.

Eh, I would side with Fontaine. He may have been a lying ☺☺☺☺☺☺☺ but he also let people have freedom to choose (Like choosing a religion by smuggling religious items into the city.) unlike Ryan who made people do what he wants. (Dictators suck.)

The city was built on a man's choices... and to deny the rights to religion is contradicting that.

( Don't get me wrong, Ryan was awesome and I would side with him had he not been a dictator. )

Tenenbaum and the Little Sisters, all the way. Heck I even filled sorry for having to kill the Big Daddies, but it was necessary to save the children.

Ryan had a little thing we like to call megalomaniacal delusions. Yes, he had a vision, but when it came right down to it, it was HIS vision all the way and anyone who didn't agree with it got taken out to Apollo Square and hung. He might not have gone as far as he did so far without Fontaine, but sooner or later, someone would have challenged his authority and his insanity would show itself. Only two adults walked out of Rapture better people than they were going in, and that was Jack and Tenenbaum.
