    Defending bombers?

hey everyone im new to the forums so forgive me if anyone else started this topic, i really did try to find it with no success. But what im really trying to find out is how do you defend your bombers? i was fighting the mongols and i went to go and bomb with my bombers and i sent fighters with them to protect them, but because they have a higher offence then defence, a wave of fighters came and destoryed them, and then another came and destoryed my bombers. so this is what im wondering, how do you defend your bombers? should i just be sending a ton of fighters along with the bombers and hope they dont have alot of fighters? i was just wondering and i hope i can hear some answer or opinions

that's pretty much all you can do (bring lots of fighters).

whoever attacks with fighters tends to win the battles, even if they are non-vet. (though defending bombers requires vet fighter wings to defend vet bomber wings)

well i now it sounds irrelevant, but getting to bombers quicker will help your problem. learn the oxford bombers trick, sounds like youre playing SP so it shouldnt be hard to get the hang of oxford. this way should ensure that you get bombers much sooner than any other civ will have fighters.

Also if your OP gets to oxford first, try to research flight to counter the bombers.

There are other ways to, you can try to slow the bomber attack, by rushing riflemen, and not forming them into armies, that can slow a oxford bomber attack, until you reach flight, this tactic has been used against me successfully.

Only once in all my hundreds of games where i hit oxford have i been countered with flight. It was against an incredible spanish start who had 9 cities with 10 pop each (many whales and islands) and libraries in all of them after he found ScoG, SoC, AoC, AW, and LcoA. When i get oxford, im usually the first to indust, and about half of the time i take the extra few turns to hit corp, so all that gold flow equates out to many many single bombers and a wing or two, i can take any city i want, and i usually aim for their most precious city (highest pop, settled GP, sometimes straight for the cap). But this game he was first to indust, and corp, so when i GBed oxford, it was hard to get bombers flowing, also because he was all the way across the map. Id say shooting for first to oxford, even if it means you dont get bombers, is a better tactic then hoping for flight.

    Battleship fleets

I am not 100% sure, but wouldn't being stacked on top of a battleship fleet result in attacking units facing the Autoheal fleet defense?

not sure, but don't think so since air units target each other first.

    should test it.

True, but if your OP gets oxford first, your main goal is to slow down there attack, until you can counter them.

You should probably lure out the enemy fighters with single bombers then kill them with your fighter wings. After the fighters are committed or lured away, attack the city with your bomber wings.
