    For the developers

I was just wondering why in all the videos the residents of rapture apart from the big daddies and little sisters instantly attack the main character. I thought that the residents of rapture were all just regular people who slowly changed themselves with plasmids. In the videos they remind me more of " generic enemy with a dress" or "generic doctor enemy with a crate of grenades". Will the final version of the game see the residents of rapture actually carrying out meaningful roles other than just bieng cannon fodder?

whoa ther jobs are not meaningless they have mutated themselves beyond reecognition and they must attack you in a dog eat dog world like rapture that is recourse deprived. The splicers are just like the main charachter they had to make the same choice the main character has too which is to kill to survive but they have already made their choice

......except they all attack only the player and never each other. There are large groups of them standing in a room peacefully and when the player walks in they all attack him. This is very, very bad in my opinion.

actually if you watch the b-roll footage carefully you'll notice splicers fighting amongst themselves in several scenes. At first it looked like one splicer just missed it's attack and accidentally hit the other one, but he continues hitting the other splicer after.

yes because you have to remember ther is a civil war going on and some splicers are on the same side which is why they are grouped together and not fighting each other or on the flip side they do fight each other just like jeff said

The video is very action orientated,I'm sure in the full game you will see the inhabitants going about their every day tasks,A lot of them wont bother you unless you directly confront them.

Ok and how is this much better than any other fps, like in the original half life the zombies fight the marines. Whoop dee doo. Thats not meaningful interaction, people, deformed by genetic manipulation or not, shouldn't just try to rip your face as soon as they see you.

Would you prefer to walk in to a room, and a splicer is just sat in the corner tucking in to some Cheerios.

but they dont instantly attack, if you watch the hunting the big daddy video the first splicer there actually runs away from the player "i'll tell you to stop it" and "get away from me" are the two lines the splicer says trying to warn the player off before the PLAYER begins the attack, some of the AI give you a chance before attacking

I just watched the video and the enemy does yell that at you all the while he's trying to kill you. Actually all the enemy's say things to the player (if you watch the 7 minute gameplay video available at gametrailers.com). It seems like the things enemies say in no way reflects their behavior. Like when a guy says " I did nothing wrong" after lobbing like five grenades at you.

have you watched the hunting the Big Daddy vid? Really? cause he doesn't try to kill you at first, the player opens the first shot, sure the splicer throws the table but he could have used a more dangerous fire blot

I think he means in more of a "grand scheme of things" kind of way, as opposed to what's just happened.

Splicers are everyone in rapture who genetically modified themselves. Hence the term "splicer" it refers to gene-splicing. Splicer is a generic term used to describe the poor souls trapped in rapture who used the resources they were given and became addicted to them, eventually their rampant use of genetic modifications caused them to become deformed and generally altered in negative ways, hence some splicers wearing masks. While they are in fact genetic freaks, that doesn't mean there's no humanity left. If you watch the media available you'll see numerous splicers hiding their faces and generally trying to stay out of sight because they're self-concious of their appearance.

Remember these individuals are psychotic and have no real control over their actions.Remember the guy at the start of the video? He says I never meant to hurt anyone, yet his craving for Adam compells him to attack.

That would actually be kind of fantastic, that would be a truly unique moment in fps history.

*although im not sure what you mean by "tucking in to some cheeroes".

They don't eat cheerios, but you should see them lapping up water from stagnant pools.

wouldnt it suck when you go into a room where should be 5 splicers, but there is only 1 because this survived one has killed each other? lol...

yes and no. Yes it would suck because I like to shoost things or otherwise kill them. No it wouldn't suck because resource starvation demands that conservation be a key role in any play style, beyond that it would mean 1 of 2 things, 1) You kill the last splicer and acquire 5x the loot because he's raided the other corpses already or 2) You kill the last splicer then get to raid 5 corpses.
