Hey guys,

I've been lurking here ever since I originally heard about spec-ops: the line and just wondered how long on average people have who have been selected have waited to get their key?

Personally I registered 2 days after it opened (was ill prior to that ) and I have heard nothing, which may be the normal wait time or it may mean i havent been selected (in which case i'll be fairly vexed as I am always on the look out for more realistic games, and there aren't really many realistic TPS out there, since GRAW/GRAW2 it's been slim pickings)

Applying doesn't guarantee you an invite, they've started small and will continue to add people throughout the course of the beta. Just keep checking your inbox and keep your fingers crossed!

I in no way even slightly implied that it did guarantee me an invite. Simply enquired from others whom have been selected what their wait times were.

well it's been a week now and I have received nothing so although I will still keep a glimmer of hope I have pretty much resigned myself to the fact I'm not going into the beta

Hope the guys/girls that have been lucky enough to get in are contributing to making it better.

Over time they are going to invite more and more people, you have the same chance as everyone else who hasn't received the key yet to get invited.

Yeah I know, hence the glimmer of hope, but in reality for ease of logistics I would imagine they would give them out in the order they are received so I'm not getting my hopes up now.

I don´t think they give em out in the order they get them. A person who just rarely plays online multiplayer games or doesn´t really like action games won´t probably be picked. But this is just speculation.

But it seems we can still hope to participate in the beta, so think positive!

Not sure what the criteria is to be honest. I play constantly and 90% of the games I do play are military games, TPS or FPS. I also play predominantly multiplayer only because single player rarely keeps me entertained.

I'd imagine its somewhat random as far as picking people, then using their info to determine if they'd want to invite them. They may also be looking for people with little to no shooter experience, just to see how easy the game is to pick up and play.

To really test a game you need people focused on testing.People coming from a shooter background might be more inclined to play the beta as a demo and not really try to isolate,reproduce,and report bugs and glitches.

If you have a bunch a CoD players as testers,if the game didn't play like CoD then there's a chance they would just stop playing the beta,or constantly try to get the game changed to play like their game of choice.For example,with the Medal of Honor beta,there are constantly people lobbying to implement prone and to make the knife kills easier,which would make it more like their game of choice,which in this case would be CoD.

I'd think you'd need a balanced group of shooters and non-shooters to ensure you constantly get good feedback on the beta.And with non-shooters involved,you'd have a better chance at getting non-biased feedback from them about the beta.

I apologize if I'm getting off-topic here.
