Exclamation Get Your "I With Stupid" T-Shirts Ready: A Really Crazy Modder Idea

This really is a crazy modder idea. Sand box battles. I want to start by saying that it is turn based and based on current confirmed info. Basically you create a 10 by 10 map(that's 100 hexes for maneuveurability). And recreate the terrain of any battle of your choice: Gettysburg, Brandywine, Yorktown, verdin, the Bulge, etc. You can make the victory taking a town or even a hill or defeating the enemy. I told you it was crazy. I created this thread so that you can tell me so. But if it's a good idea I want to be told that too.

Or mod a senario to make you think you were high on acid. But seriously you like it?

Great idea! There's no reason why is it crazy, maybe it's not for people who like to build their civilizations from ground up, but for people who like big battles, this will be like Heaven!

Yeah it could be like Total War battles except turn based. That way your able to think about your strategy more clearly. You could even recreate the D-day invasion at Normandy. That would be a more of a 20 by 20 map(400 hexes) to fit in the southern coast of England, the English channel, and northern France.

It'd have to be much broader in scope to be something more than a novelty... If I'm given a limited number of units in the beginning at one side of the map, then there's only so much possible combination of moves before it becomes a "been there, done that" thing.

It'd be cool to see a World in Conflict-style reinforcement system, and node-capturing strategy from Company of Heroes. As you kill enemy units, capture certain settlements/outposts, and complete mini-objectives, you earn points or cash which can be spent on units/upgrades. Reinforcements should arrive in a certain way, though, so that you don't see enemy troops instantly replenished or doubled in size over a turn... Maybe outposts can act as a reinforcement hub (effectively "produce" units), so after several turns purchased units are shipped in at those spots.

This is a great idea, but I'm sure someone already tried this out... I wouldn't know, since I never played mods

This idea is really so that people can get used to the new combat system of front lines which will be a big game changer. In past games all you had to do was build 20 archers and send them in to conquer a city and you would most likely take the city with a loss of maybe 2 or 3 archers big deal. Now you actually have to place your units in well placed tiles and form a front and pray that you don't lose any units.

Well that would be nice but this idea is based off of currently confirmed ideas.

This idea is rather a Panzer General mod. (Mechanics of PG applied to other ages.) Good thing: scale is auto-setting, the longest range unit always shoots 3-4 tiles.

Also there's a BtS 'Silly mod' called Civ Defense where it is basically a Civ arcade game.
