Looking at the voice modifier i would say it holds you down than puts that blender thing in your mouth and shreds away your vocal chords.

If you think about it, with ripped up vocal cords and all spliced up, he's essentially Subject Delta without the little sister bond.

I got the impression that the idea was to "look like" not actually become a big daddy. If you get the "good ending" it would appear that you are normal again going by the grown up LS's holding your hand at the end.
well Jack is the silent type so I dont think it would matter to him. What I wanna know is with all that splicing if he looked gross how did he live on the surface?
Unless theres a beauty tonic that he managed to grab inbetween fighting Fontaine and rising to the surface...Now that I think about it if the bathosphere can go to the surface why didnt jack just rise back up and leave instead of going through all that ****? If you say its because he got the keyes to the city by killing atlas im gonna rage on you (Cause we all know you reject the keyes to the city..unless your an evil prick in witchcase your evil and I dont like you

I always assumed he just took the voice box thing OFF the shredder device and just held it next to his mouth like a clip-on Mic. I highly doubt he let the thing SHRED and CUT into his throat and still be able to run off just fine. . .

i agree i doubt jack actually shredded his voice box because he prob would be laying there for a day or 2 in extreme pain. That voice box thing made me cringe though blah. I always also wondered what that big daddy cologne smells like they should make some!
Same. And if you look at it, it's covered in blood. Gross. And if I remember right, the BD pheremones are supposed to stink VERY badly. Like Tenenbaum says, "Why these girls are so attracted to that smell is beyond my comprehension"...something like that.

He has to turn into a Big Daddy to convince a Little Sister to open the door to Fontaine for him. He has to collect 3 Big Daddy pheromone samples, put a voice box in his throat and get some BD armor.
And omg! I never thought about that: Jack just puts in that thing like it's a cookie! Talking about desperate measures ..

I always thought that it was like a choker sort of thing that went on his neck that'd change his voice, since like... turning him into a real Big Daddy would surely take much longer than the seemingly few hours Jack spent searching for the stuff xD
(That, and I'm sure there'd be some screaming involved if he were grafted into the BD suit.)
Well only the voice box was put in his body, the rest wass stuff he could take off. Maybe he never talked afterwards ;P
the spinney thing does turn and release so im sure that he actually went through live surgery now. The plasmids and first aid probably helped the pain. This brings the whole jacks so spliced he didnt expect to leave rapture aspect to light. If you look like an ugly ass human elephant you're not going to try and return to society.

Considering Jack has had the living **** shocked out of him, beaten up, shot, and drilled, I'm pretty sure a Medkit will fix him right up.
Actually he appears to have returned to normal when you fight fontaine, As he has his normal voice back.
Reading about the surgery just makes my neck feel uncomfortable.
What I don't understand about it is that in the final fight with Fontaine, Jack has taken off the suit, lost the damage bonus and received damage loss, and his voice is back to normal. Weird.
