Thread: Naming your save files.

    Post Naming your save files.

Does anyone, aside from me, want to be able to name their save files? It's just confusing for me to try and remember which is which. (I think this is already possible for the PC version, but I use an Xbox 360 so i don't know all that much.)

Saving on the xbox360 is pretty much sound but on the PC there are some flies in the ointment. The GFWL client 'encrypts' saved games so if you download an update or want to go from offline to an online account and play multiplayer... it will wipe your saved games directory. If you backup your saves to another directory or disk, they still won't work because the save ID is no longer valid.

I thought the patch was going to fix this but 2K was much more concerned with all the children running around pulling their hair out because widescreen issues caused them to go into a tantrum.

I agree with you, but I already have too many saves that it wouldn't matter any way even if I did name them. But this would probably prove helpful to many people, I would never say no to a new feature.

I come from the old school of adventure gaming - in those old adventure games, you could always name your saved game.

When I have 10 saves in a large level, I'd sure like to be able to name them so I don't have to load 3 of them before I find the one I want.

BioShock 2 doesn't even show you a screenshot of your saved game, which is something many games also do and would at least be a half-way step between allowing your own name and not allowing it.

Plus how the whole thing is tied into GFWL... it's just awful and ridiculous. If you allow players to save their game, why would you think they wouldn't want to make good use of it? More than about 20 saved games, and the entire menu system is bogged down because of the way that BioShock 2 has to communicate with GFWL from what I understand.

    It's horrid.

I remember one save where I was continually faced with my reticle directly pointed at the crotch of an incoming Brute Splicer. "WE'LL DO THIS LIKE THE ROMANS!", indeed.
