Thumbs up For the uber cool Random players!

So...i was just thinking. Last game I played I received the Egyptians and did very very well. As I was waiting for the one guy thats always there that takes 10 mins to decide on a civ, I was guessing on what civs settler would be there when the game eventually started.
When I saw the yellow on the settlers, I knew that I was immediately wrong. Theyre maybe the civ that I get the least number of times and believe me, out of about 600 games played, no less than 550 were randoms.

It got me thinking...for those of us that play random all the time, or at least more often then not to make for a higher number of votes.

Is there a civ that you wind up getting more than the rest? Are there a few?

For me...I get Zulu the most (no one believes that I went random when I do, but eff 'em, I dont lie). Romans and Arabs would be the next two, but not in that order. I've never kept track, but overall it seems like those 3 are the ones the Mario gods like to give me.

    How about you?

?! I talk about how great random is for two years and this is what convinces you? I only go random unless someone makes a request. Don't need any of this pick a power civ to take down a power civ nonsense. That's weak thinking and shows a lack of faith in the mario gods.

I have never consistently gotten the same civ. For the longest time my FFA fave was Greeks, but I actually picked them a few times when I started out. After getting reset the first time, it fluctuated between Americans and Russians. Now it shows as Egypt. I got the Mongol symbol to the top 10 in H2H only picking them once (per request). Since my reset, it's changed a lot, but now shows as France. I really do get the Russians and Mongols quite a lot.

I have recently started playing FFA and I always use random. I have never done that before and I have to say it is fun.

Regarding civ assignments: I got about 50 games or so in by now and I have never gotten the British or Mongols. I have gotten most the Zulu, Russian, Greeks, India and Egypt. America and China twice.

I'm up to ~85 games pure random in FFA and the english are still the civ I get most.

I get a mix of all the civs, but I suspect that china/egypt are the 2nd most played. I'm pretty sure I've played all civs in this run. (though, only really lose as the americans )

random is... random, somewhat. I tend to get a string of the same civs per day, and that changes every day or two. Each reload resets the random choice.

I almost always get the mongols, almost always. I am firmly convinced it is because the universe really wants me to have to buy Nickc3 a dinner. I'll buy it but i don't have to eat it.

Let's talk about awesome random experiences. I've gotten China against 3 more Chinas. I've gotten Japan against 3 more Japanese. I've had all 4 Egypt. I've played Japan against 3 Spanish. I galley-dropped two of them and the other got taken out by the AI. So awesome.

Or here's a good one. Any one else have this happen? I random France or Russia and someone else has them and is all pissed off that there is two of the same civ.

Worst ever: I got the Mongols against Americans, Aztecs and China, all of whom horserushed (Aztecs got me).

yeah... last 6 or so games I've gotten americans/zulu/china.. fun fun.

the latest american game was fun. me (GS) vs 2 other americans and a chinese player (roman AI).

get HBR from goodie hut. first horse out (3500 BC - no warriors) gives me a galley. AW right beside me. take it, go fundy, move boat north on same island get KT. move to the next island get SoC (GE/GS). same island has 7cities. crap monkeys.. if the game wanted me to win that badly it should have just given them the loss to start with.

of course, they're all kittens. go figure. One settled a GS and the other settled a GH. (the GH one didn't even take the barb hut beside his cap - || SRR ||) the chinese guy got the walls in time, but only left a single warrior in his cap... brilliant defensive strategy.

SRR quit when I GS'd monarchy then Feud in the same turn. no one else had more than 3 techs.

Since someone said 'fun random experiences' I will talk about 2 of the 3 proudest civ games for me. In the last 2 weeks, I randomed France and completely dominated, that was a good feeling.
And yesterday I randomed Egypt (w/HGB) and wound up coming back from a decent whole, fighting off and eventually beating a top 15 all China, all the time, player.
Had a good random Russian game going late last night.Didn't really have the time to play, so I went all out on horse rush. Lost my HA despite 15-9 odds, then I went to bed.

kinda surprised that with you getting AW so early that you didn't go to communism to pump out more Horse armies and then go fundy when you have them near the op. although it didn't really even matter in that game lol

that was the point.. didn't matter.

of course, since posting that game I lost 2 in a row got stuck between 2 american horse rushers and managed to noob it up by moving the warrior in my cap rather than the warrior beside my cap.

then got frozen doing upgrades for my german warriors. gotta remember to give time between upgrades.

Haha! Well, I was trying to be nice! But actually, the only thing that is different for me now compared to last year or even a few months ago is that I am now more familar with all the civs. I even sort of know what to do with the power civs now.

i got the russians remarkably often. they're no1 with a jut of more than 5 games i think. followed by the french, england, the zulu and mongolia. in the first 60 games i didn't get greece once but now they have catched up with the germans (both 3 games).

Yeah, I'm sure it didn't matter. However, I don't think going to Communism with 1-2 cities at 2 population each is really that effective. Considering two turns of anarchy, how much are you really gaining?

Playing random makes you more familiar with all the civs!
