Thread: Weapon Upgrades

    Weapon Upgrades

I was wondering about the weapon upgrades. I know it has been said that the player 'invents' his own upgrades to the weapons using pieces from the world. But, what I was wondering was if these upgrade pieces are fairly obvious or not.

Is it like Night Under a Killing Moon where there are many seemingly random pieces and you try different combinations? or are the upgrades and upgrade components fairly obvious?

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

It would have been better if you would have posted this in the "questions for the team" section. I thought one of the interviews said something about a weapons upgrading machine. Perhaps we find work benches/stations where we will have to play a mini-game to upgrade our weapons.

I can't believe anyone else in the world has actually played this game. I have to say, that was one of the happiest and most fulfilling ending sequences I'd ever gone through in a game. I actually bought it as a gift for my dad; my dad who doesn't even like games and never played it once. So, I played it for him.

In answer to the question: There is a U-Invent machine. You gather various pieces and things which you can use to upgrade your weapon throughout the levels, and then at the U-Invent machine you can assign those pieces to each weapon -- i.e. fast reload for shotgun, etc. I'm just guessing, but I'm a good guesser.

Whatever the system is, I'm guessing it'll be pretty obvious, since BioShock seems to be streamlined for easy of use and fast paced gameplay (if the player chooses a faster approach).

As for there being no inventory and no HUD, I think that's just a rumour that started with random speculation by forum members after seeing one of the gameplay movies with crosshairs, HUD etc. switched off.

Personally I can't imagine there not being at least an option to have a HUD and crosshairs, but I guess there's always that possibility (you may only be able to access your equipment at the various upgrade points, for example).

I think it will just crack, which I would gratly appreciate. It seems silly to me that an underwater, pressurised, super city would have shatterable glass. Immagine if someone sliped... and the whole city flooded. (Ha! I can tottaly see that happening though, like a Rube Goldberg machine.)

I had a copy of Overseer and I really loved the style and the intro and the first few rooms. Plus the humour was really cool, but I had compatibility issues that stopped me getting past the first interview (It was really disappointing (I'm putting together a separate machine out of old bits and pieces to play Win98 games so I might try and pick up another copy)).

I think that you add plasmids to the weapons and that pimps the weapon a little bit.

Lol, I hadnt noticed someone resurrected this thread

Anyways, yeah, I recently read about the U-Invent stations. But, im still not sure whether or not all the upgrade pieces are going to be obvious or not. I would assume that they sortof are, but you never know.

As for plasmids? well I think its been hinted at that you can use plasmids in the upgrades, but that is yet to be confirmed
