Thank You to everyone that contributed to BioShock

I just wanted to come here and express my thanks to everyone @ 2K and Irrational for creating the first true next-generation gaming masterpiece. BioShock was well worth the wait and my hard earned money. I spent $1500 on a new PC just for BioShock. This game is everything I had hoped for and then some. I haven't finished the game yet, I am about 12 hours in and loving every second. I think I am almost finished judging from what reviewers are saying the length is at. However at one point I remember hearing the game was around 30 hours (maybe I am just crazy) but length does not make a game great. I do not see myself putting this game down anytime soon, hell this is the first game that has really made me forget about Half-Life 2 (which I have completed around 8 times).

I really love all the little things packed into this game, for example in the beginning when Atlas tells you to go to Medical to find the surgeon but the way is blocked and you need the telekinesis plasmid to proceed. There is two posters on two of the walls of the room, advertising a free plasmid at Dandy Dental. I am the type of gamer that loves a great story, if the story in a game is great I will finish the game regardless of the gameplay. BioShock blends everything together so well its mind blowing. Story, art, action, interesting enemies, addicting gameplay plus a development team that genuinely cares about the gamer.

BioShock was made with lots of love and you can see that. BioShock is not a game you play its a game you experience. In my opinion we already have a contender for game of this GENERATION.

I know a lot gamers are angry about little things like widescreen issues and the like. When really they should be patient and wait for a patch. Maybe I am speaking out of turn since I have not had one single issue with this game technically. I am too busy getting sucked into this living breathing world of Rapture to care whether or not its true widescreen I am looking at. The only problems I encountered were with the demo and the ATi hotfix solved those (I have my PC specs at the bottom of this post)

There is one thing that has got me a little upset and thats the fact that those that received busted Big Daddy statues are getting a printed art book which is something I much rather would of had than a BioShock EP. Yes I know theres a downloadable art book online but I wanted a physical art book maybe something water logged looking. Valve Software put out a Half-Life 2 book that had lots of info and drawings and stuff called "Raising the Bar" I would buy one if one was released for BioShock.

I realize this is pretty long now and I am sorry to those that don't like long posts (hopefully I didn't exceed the post length cap for this forum) there is one more thing I would like to share with you. Earlier today I decided to plug in my Xbox 360 pad and try BioShock with that. After I updated the drivers (actually Vista did that for me) and fired up the game I clicked the option to enable the 360 controller and what came next shocked me. The menus and sub-screens are changed drastically, I'm assuming it reverted to what the 360 version is like. I was amazed that all of that was packed in the game as well. It's like I got both versions of the game for the price of the standard edition on the 360. I do feel that the game is better optimized for the keyboard and mouse, especially the hacking mini-game. Hacking is much more difficult with the controller.

I defintely feel like I got more than my money's worth with this game. I can't wait to see what kinds of things 2K and Irrational have cooked up for us BioShock fans in the future.

Once again, thank you to everyone at 2K and Irrational for making the most immersive game I have played in a LONG time. Now I am off to submerge back into Rapture to see how this epic plays out.

    PC Specs:

    Antec Nine Hundred gaming case
    Samsung SyncMaster 940BW 19inch 16x10 LCD
    Asus M2N-E board
    AMD X2 5600+
    OCZ Reaper HPC Edition 2gb
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer (using 2.1 Logitech speakers need to get 5.1 or 7.1)
Asus ATi Radeon HD 2900XT 512mb
    Windows Vista Ultimate Edition 64bit

as I said above I have experienced no problems with the retail game. No random crashes, no missing textures, nothing. Maybe I am just lucky who knows. I truely feel bad for those that can't enjoy this game because of technical issues.

Where do you live? I haven't been anywhere really since I got the game so I don't know if its sold out around me. If don't live in the states I am not sure when it hits stores over seas.

    Hi 2K,

Just wondering how much you pay the guys to write this stuff?

I've purchased a legit copy of the game, ran into problems with the activation, then decided to wait for a fix, then found out about the rootkit, so I am still undecided on whether to go ahead with trying to install it.

But hey, I'm pretty sure I can write a much more flowery review than the thread starter, so just wondering, how much do you pay? I'll write whatever you want. Don't worry, you don't have to pay me more than IGN or Gamespot.

    Thank you.
