    New DLC Who's buying?

With the announcement of DLC who is actually going to get it if they don't put a patch to go along with it?

    Count me out

No patch means no purchase from me. I'm not gonna fuel this sort of business move...keep leechin' the fanboys who they know will shell out cash for whatever they feel like doing. Too many other things and games coming out for me to waste the cash. Multiplayer's wearin' out for me anyways...

If it was single player DLC, that's a different story...but look at how it's going now.

Not buying this until there's a patch. I need a rest from MP anyway, other games to play!

    That's me!

I'll absolutely buy it, I have some left-over MS points just burning a hole in my avatar's pocket. I was THIS close last night to buying the Bioshock 2 theme and an Incinerate shirt for my avatar but this sounds like a much more promising purchase.

I can't wait to play on new maps, I hope they have lots of secret rooms and high places to bring the Little Sister in TAG. As soon as I download the DLC, I'm going to start a private match so I can explore the maps and get a feel for them before I actually go into battle. It's gonna feel like Christmas morning, like I'm Alice and I just went through the rabbit hole.

Yes, I've got it too and I like it very much. Actually one of the best premium themes around IMO. I don't regret getting it.

I am one of said fanboys, I don't even play multiplayer in other games but I love Bio2, but the tech issues have to be fixed before I drop anymore money. I almost smashed my xbox in anger last night after about the 5th lockup in a row. This time it seemed only to happen at the end of the match when returning to the lobby; then I couldn't get back into the game with group of people I was playing with.

I will buy it, because i think they will launch a patch together with the DLC. And i waaaant more maps and hopefully some single player content! But for me in the last month there is not as much problem with lag and freezing that it ones have been! /Johan

Why do you assume that releasing the DLC before a patch is a business move? It's blatantly obvious that people desperately want a patch, so why would the come up with a plan to postpone a patch for DLC? It doesn't make any logical sense.

Whether you like 2K or not, they are most certainly not stupid, and they know they need to do everything they can to get the patch out as quickly as possible. So the fact that the DLC is coming out may simply be happening because the patch team is still working on a patch, while a separate team is working on DLC. So the DLC just comes out when they schedule it. The patch would be separate.

Come on people, no company would make it a business plan to forestall the development and release of a necessary patch to keep the community for something that is meant to draw people in.

Seriously? What does it have on the main screen of the dashboard, the screen that comes up when you go to My Xbox because that's the screen I see most often. I don't want it to be something lame.

I really may get it but then I was thinking maybe the original Bioshock theme would be better.

I was actually quite proud to prove it . I think others are as well. Are we gullible for continuing to play a game this flawed and in need of a patch? Perhaps. Are we having fun while we do it? Absolutely.

Does the original BioShock got any premium theme? If so I have to get it

There were 2 premium themes for BioShock 2, one of them (the multiplayer theme) is no longer available for sale, from what I've seen:

    And here's the other theme:

I know exactly what you're talking about, fortunately enough this awesome site has videos of all available themes. Now if there only was Mirror's Edge theme

My thoughts exactly. I still dont have the sinclair tester pack and Im not planning to buy it since I already paid for it (SE without ingame xtras? gg) .

It would make little sense for me to buy DLC for a game that I am unable to play due to bugs...

  22. #22
i'm def buying the dlc , cannot wait.. we did need new maps. so this is great.. by the sound of it.. rapture metro pack.. i wonder if it will b new maps from bioshock 2?, or if it is still from the first...PLEASE INCLUDE FLEET HALL!!, i know we have frolic..but c'mon.. . surprised that there will be 6 though.. maybe as a way of saying sorry for the last incident with dlc?, they included more.

the patch will b on its way... they are not gonna leave it broken.

Hey Zero, thanks to you I just bought the BS2 premium theme. I love it, especially all the cool backgrounds for each of my friends. Appreciate the help.

For some reason today has been completely lag-awful. I assume it's because I'm joining a lot of games that are already and progress and therefore the host was already chosen and it's certainly not me. Whoever it is has a horrible connection, I keep trying to break through walls and then get stuck coming out the other end, my character's walking animation begins to go into an endless stutter. And don't even get me started on all the headshots I KNOW I've made and yet simply don't register because of the lag.

I plan on getting it. I'm not much of a muliplayer person, but I really like the muliplayer for bioshock 2, even with its flaws. maybe I like it because it is so different than other multiplayer games , more of a run-and-gun type of gameplay with non-military weapons versus the other military weapon, snipe and hide multiplayer type games.

    Bump for the same reason.

i still don't get why people actually want to pay for new MP maps. 2k prohibits any modification of the game, not allowing modders to create new maps, destroying any long term motiviation to play the game, unless you pay them for something that could've been done for free by committed community members.

um not everyone plays on the pc. heck the pc community is the smallest bioshock 2 community...

Me, Myself and I are certainly getting this, even if it cost us an arm and a leg. Who doesn't wanna see D. Park before it's unfortunate flooding?!

ever heard of counter strike? team fortress (2)? both being 2 of the greatest and most popular games of all times, based on half life and quake mods, would have never seen the light of day if id software and valve prohibited modification of their games. i'm really asking myself, what's wrong with this community? oh, i forgot. BS2 and its multiplayer was aimed at casual console gamers.

All my Bioshock 2 works, no patch needed, even though PS3 got a patch today. So yes, I'm buying DLC.

It's a matter of personal preference. Some people do not like to run around gigantic maps constructed of digital legos.

By the way, is there something wrong with being a casual console gamer?

If you look on the downside though he is right. With modders, devs can study what players actually want to play and maybe incorporate a better version in the next sequel or franchise. another notable game that benefited from mods is starcraft.

you have a point but that does not make bioshock 2 mp for casual players. the way the elements of the MP works is pretty ingenious with its under the radar counter system. There is like a thread of all these counters in the MP section...

You could say people who master just traditional fps techniques and these new mechanics just become an above avg player, but ppl like rybow, stop@red, athea, etc.. who mastered both are the ones who excel.

Yes it sux that there is no mods but ppl who play this game seriously can take offense to ure comment.

Even if there was a patch, I still wouldn't buy any new multiplayer DLC. I will be purchasing any single player DLC though, regardless of a patch.

But MP is fun though all the SP elements are preserved and work wonderfully in the MP. I was a doubter at first but once you play a couple of rounds ull see its charm

Well, I've played Bioshock's mulitplayer and it was really fun. But after a solid two weeks of constant playing, it got boring. (MW 2 took over...sorry)

I bought Bioshock 2 for the single player, and that's where i'll be spening my money if any SP DLC arrives.

I was merely addressing his "What's wrong with this community?" statement. Personally, I don't have a problem with running around huge kitchen maps at 200% speed (and on drugs) and the like, but as I said before, it's a matter of personal preference.
