Alright guys, what we've been waiting for. I put 8 names into a hat and let my mom draw them out while i recorded the names and matchups. Here they are:

Rules will go as follows: (as referred to in the "Let's Have a tourney!!" thread)

- No using power civs (zulu, china, america).
- H2H best 2/3 elimination 8-man bracket style.
- No using same civ twice.
- No stealing barb reward(i'm not really sure what this meant, can someone explain), no demo glitching, no GW glitching.

Please guys, NO intentional glitching! Lets play fair games with good results.
Both players need to report results. If one player reports, and the other does not, the player who reported will receive the win. Please report which civs were used by each player.

In the case of a freeze, report back to this thread for further discussion. If the game was still in the ancient Era when freeze took place, just go ahead and restart the game.

Bioshock is not a CivRev player. He just posted in the wrong forum.

You should replace him with the headless 10, elthrasher, OldBillJVB, or DotHaze.

And this bracket seems to be weighted very heavily on the bottom two matchups. It doesn't matter really, since it's short. But, that's the way it looks to me, no offense to anyone on the top part of the bracket, but all the players in matches 3 and 4 are all players that have been or are currently in the top 25, and to my knowledge, none of the players in matchups 1 or 2 have been ranked that high (maybe matsgutt on ps3, i dunno).

Sorry, not every tournament can be perfect. This is only an 8 man one and will only last a little while. It's just to keep the tourney life alive, and all of those who were left out can make their own tournament if they want? Sorry if your name wasn't up there, the picks came out of a hat. Unless a player seems to not respond, the matchups will now stay like they are, no matter how "weighted" or whatever.

Sure. This doesn't mean that somebody else brought the barb down to 1 flag and you take the last one. That's totally fair. What this refers to is darting in quickly to steal the reward after your opponent finishes a barb. I won't explain the technique for doing this because if ya don't know, then that's best. But, regardless, I think you should have at least one post in the forum before joining a forum tournament, or at least be someone that is a known member of the MP community. I have a question about accepting peace. earlier in the week I was attacked while I was in democracy. and then the very same turn of the attack I was forced into peace. I subscribe to the belief that if war is declared on a turn and attacks are made then I have at least the rest of the turn to defend myself. I would accept peace at the beginning of the next turn provided that no attacks were made. I don't think that one should be allowed to attack and then immediatley accept peace. If you want peace with a democracy you should not take aggressive action against it at any point in the turn that you ask for peace. The democracy should have the turn that it was attacked to defend itself. What does everyone else think?

Lots of people agree with you, lots dont, there is a thread on that. Since this is a tournament though that falls under the category of demo-glitching. So, under the rules of this tournament if someone attacks you while you are in Democracy and then asks for peace the same turn you must accept it. Technically you still have the right to defend your city with your defensive units, you just do not have the option of counter-attack.

Now if you can manage to get your attack in before they ask for peace by all means have at it, but if that request comes in just before you hit attack its too late.

I believe its once per tourney.... so you can only crush your opponents with those super powerful cannons and super fast moving riflemen once

cant remember losing to those names, but it could have happened. i havent played ffa in a while to be honest, ive been playing h2h alot lately. all my recent ffa games have resulted in a win, and i just play it now and then to not get reset

In the future, I'd probably just go ahead and allow all civs, since you can only play each once. Are you going to waste your power civs early on? Would anybody play America in the first match? I mean, getting to the final with America and China still on deck would virtually guarantee victory, if your opponent has already used them. However, if you don't use them, then you might not see the final. With three matches per round if somebody wants to go ahead and waste America on your Mongols, you should invite him to do it.

I like it better with the "no power civs" actually. Arabs/Aztec/Spanish kind of become the power civs, but they don't necessarily mean an auto win. You still have to decide when to use the good civs. I will take Arabs/Aztec/Spanish over your French/Mongols/Russia in the finals.

I guess it's mostly a different crowd from the tournaments we ran before. We've always disallowed America, China and the Zulu, which is fine, but I thought a change of pace might be nice. Not really a change of pace if it's all new people though. It's not a huge deal to me and you're right, the strategic choices are basically the same.
