i hate it when companies do that, it happens all the time and they just blame the exchange rate and shipping but when you look into it the shipping is already covered in the original cost and the exchange rate dosent add much onto it either.
it happened here with the PS3, it you turn $600 US into AU dollars it becomes around $750, but sony decided to slap on another $250, and australias not getting screwed over the most, i think its either brazil or new zealand.
Well its the exchange rate based on the economy if UK starts spending too much the put up the interest rates.
Because USA is a huge country and you guys spend a ton load you devalue your own currency if thats how it works.
So it looks like we are paying more especially £425 for a PS3 which is around $800 US (60gb version).
Our premium 360 costs around £280 retail which is around $550 US.
Oh and no one DOUBLES the price of a collectors or Ltd edition! Its only around £5-£10 more at the most.
Unlike GTA 4 and Halo 3 Legendary edition.
It seems both are £70 so thats like $130 for the GTA 4 collectors which is I believe $90 in the USA? and its $130 for the Halo 3 Lengendary in the USA anyways so I guess Microsoft thought of screwing both countries...
wow you guys really do get the bum rap dont ya? £70 in AUD is $165 and i have never seen a game go over the $130 mark here, we also have a "free trade" agreement (i think) wiht the US (not sure aboot the UK?) which might help?

its something along the lines of there being less Taxes or tariffs? on exports/imports so we are able to get things cheaper, but i know ☺☺☺☺e all about it so its really just a wild stab in the dark
I just took a look on my calendar and it really isnt that long anymore even the nwn2 ce info was given faster then this.
I think GAME charged either £44.99 or £49.99 for the LE of Neverwinter Nights 2 (Play.com sold their equivalent for £35), which was a good £20 more than their standard edition price, and over twice the amount that some other websites were charging for the standard edition.
Admittedly, they've been much better than that recently, but it wouldn't be without precedent for them to do it, which irks me.
Cant really compare GAME's prices to PLAY. I think play doesnt have to pay VAT coz theyre positioned in some non-VAT place, but from what my dad tells me thats gonna change sometime in august so PLAY's prices might go up. Might all be a rumour.
Btw. Does anyone else feel like they've been left in the dark? I mean id feel better if one of the producers came on and just said some optimistic words. Even if he/she was lying at least i could suffer in peace!!
Well we were left in the dark about what was going on with The Darkness - asked about delays and if the game had gone gold etc and nothing.
Bioshock is scheduled to be released on 24th August in Europe so there still is some time for 2K to let us know whats what.
I am already a bit upset that USA got (off topic but relevant) Ninja Gaiden Sigma collectors edition and no other country not even Japan got it!
Just shows you that USA get everything, special items, collectors and collectables with pre-orders.
The second biggest market for games which is Europe gets a LOT less.
The only special extras I can think of that UK got over USA was probably the Lost Planet faceplate with a pre-order of the game and Rainbow 6 Vegas faceplate at Virgin mega stores with a pre-order and the poker set at GAME with a pre-order.
Oh and a dead rising faceplate with a pre-order of the game.
Now when I look at GAMESTOP in the US they get lots of goodies more than us....
Jeah it is very unfair and I get it makes more money in the us but europe isnt that small plenty of money to be made here with collectors editions.

If you preorder the USA LE from Gamestop or EBGames, it's not guaranteed that the game will end up being region free if you buy the 360 version, right?

Well so far 2K Elizabeth has gone and re-confirmed the game is coming out in August in another thread in 2K moving to New York...
It would be nice to know since its just over a month to go before release that we either get a simple yes or no or even something like this:
'Guys we are still looking into it'
or
'We know the game is coming out in August and we plan to get you guys an answer before E3'
Now the way I see it if they announce something at E3 then they can either do 1 of 2 things:
1) Annouce the collectors edition will be available in USA/CAN which will result in many angry faces indeed.
or
2) Suprise everyone and say the collectors edition will be availalbe WORLD WIDE including Europe/Australia etc
I am starting to lose hope since it is just taking far too long so an e3 suprise like that would be nice.
I had a thought the other day; given the amount of territories in Europe perhaps all the exclusivity negotiations are just taking an age. But, given the way the industry generally treats the second biggest market, I think the more likely scenario is "Europe? Oh, er sorry".

That could be indeed the best explanation why, not only for Bioshock, but also for other games, that it's always taking so long before we hear an confirmation on whether or not Collector's Edition us Euro people get it also.
What gets me even really basic collectors edition like ones with an extra disc i.e. Ninja Gaiden Sigma is only released in USA not in Europe or even Japan.
Actually thinking about it when was the last time a collectors edition with a statue or sorts was even released in Europe? PREY had a couple of small figurines and that never made it to Europe...
A trend perhaps?
The last thing 2K should be doing is alienating their fanbase/potential buyers of the game...
I know out of spite im gonna make the best game in the world and NOT release it in the US but only in Europe, Australia and Asia.

Well considering we have posters up here showcasing the Collectors edition here in Aust with figurine etc. im pretty sure Australia is getting it but i think it may be easier because we don't charge the US taxes or tariffs on shipping which makes it easier and cheaper for them to send it here
