Any further UK limited edition info?

    Hi Folks

Any news on the availability of the UK Limited edition? Just been looking at the fantastic daddy model and i wanna make sure i can get hold of one. I keep checking the uk sites (Game, Play, Amazon, Gameplay etc) and there is still no mention.....

Should i pre-order an import from the states, just to be sure?

    Long live Rapture!

Hi and welcome to Rapture!-The only UK store that seems to be accepting pre-orders on the LE is Choices.UK.Good luck!

  3. #3
Really? cause I had a look at ChoicesUk and I couldn't find the LE for pre-order, so far I don't think the LE has even been confirmed for PAL release, which sucks because I want to pre-order it and I live in the UK, I hope they confirm a PAL release soon.

Yeah it sucks, why cant 2k just announce the PAL LE so that we can preorder it already.

i mean we've known there will be an LE since the 29th of March and we've known whats going to be in it since April 23rd.

kind of irritating since this little message is displayed in the articles section

"The Limited Edition will also be available in other territories and details about ordering a copy will be coming soon"

Please define "soon" for me because its been a month already.

Hopefully it won't be truly 'Limited'. As long as I get one I'll be happy, even if it means having to wait until after release for production (I'm basically happy to take a ticket and stand in line). The main thing is that I get one.

Edit: I've now pre-ordered from EB/Gamestop (their international shipping rates are very reasonable and I don't want to risk missing out (it seems the production run may very well be quite limited)).

Agreed they need to give some news as to where they will show up since we know they will be limited to a few or maybe even 1 site.

There was a small article in one of my 360 magazines that suggested the European release of the L/E wouldnt feature the BD figure in the package.Personally,I'm not that botherd about the L/E-its the game I'm interested in.
@Laughingmanic-Choices assured me they would be accepting orders for both editions.

No BD figurine? That would suck, I would still get the LE, but I would be disappointed if it didn't come with a BD figurine.

I've pre-ordered on the net (gamestop and EB ship to the U.K. (and to most other places) and their international postage rates are very reasonable (they use standard USPS services instead of expedited shipping))

Shipping to the U.K. for a single unit for example is listed as costing $15.99 (approximately £8 at time of writing)

I've pre-order from gamestop and am just going to pay the little extra for the shipping (their rates are very reasonable considering it's an international shipment), since I don't want to risk missing out.

Did you order from the Gamestop store? I tried to order today and it wouldn't let me.

Were you trying to order the 360 version?

  13. #13
It seems that Gamestop and EBgames won't ship the 360 version internationally, but are happy to do so with the PC version.

2K did this with PREY they didnt release the collectors anywhere else other than USA/CAN however it had to be the worst collectors edition ever created - you will know what I mean if you have it...Its where the disc is PRESSED against...The lovely metal so you can look forward to a nicely scratched PREY game...

Anyhow I hope this collectors for Bioshock comes out in UK.

Also I hear the game is released in August? Oh come on lets have it in July at least!

I'd take care doing that, you'll have to pay duty on the package if customs see it and believe me it will be substantial.

    Isn't it 17.5%?

Anyway, they want a copy of my credit card statement before they'll ship to me, so things aren't looking good for me copy of the LE right now.

Edit : The 360 version is region specific, so I guess that's why they won't ship it.

Also— EB & Gamestop will want a fax or scan of your credit card statement to verify your card (I just received my request for it today).

Not sure how much the import tax is, but royal mail charge you fees as well. I got stung for £10 on a £35 dvd import.

And yeah, I was trying to get the 360 version.

Elizabeth sent me an answer for my PM and this was one of the topics. She said they are having some issues but they will get the LE to everywhere. More info on this soon.

Probably because they didn't specify the currency on the customs sticker. £35 is approx $69, 17.5% of which is approx £10

If they don't put a dollar symbol in front of the figure, customs assumes it's a pounds Stirling amount.

Royal Mail and Parcelforce also charge a flat "clearance fee" of £8 on packages with customs charges.

I'd forgotten about that (there's a real sting in that tail).

According to 2Kbeth there apparently is a Special Edition going to be distributed in the U.K. and details of it should be released soon.

I think the issue is probably how to get it here. Will it be cost effective etc.?

LOL quality I must have that figure!

And yes the import duty is exorbitant cf. what you pay for small items. Stinks really, but that's economic protectionism for you.

Well technically its all made in china anyways I doubt they are going to open up a factory in the USA to make the extra bits.

So from China to Europe is imo perhaps more cost effective and better than going to USA so imo Europe should also get it.

Oh and lets not forget that UK pays around £40 a game which is nearly $80!!! So with collectors on average being £50 thats nearly $100 a game!! So YES its definently in the interest for 2K to bring it here at least...

I'm really hoping they are released here (I heard a rumour that it was going to be released but without the Big Daddy figurine, which would suck).

I've got someone in the states forwarding me a couple of copies, since I don't want to take any chances with not getting one (I can't believe how much I'm spending and the effort I'm going to for these things).

I'll end up pre-ordering over here too in case the ones from the states don't reach me (I'll probably end up with four copies and not be able to play the game because I've spent all my hardware upgrade cash on the Limited edition).

I guess if I look on the bright side, there might be a shortage of them and I might be able to sell my spares for exorbitant amounts of money which I can then use to upgrade my PC to actually play the game at a decent frame-rate (although that's pretty cynical (I'd rather 2K just continued production until everyone that wants one gets one)).

Well I did import my PREY collectors edition.

Here's hoping that the game is REGION FREE so I can import it if 2K dont release it here.

Well the OZ one is going strong so lets bump this one up since UK/Europe is just as important as USA when it comes to games!

Any news on a Limited Edition for us as well yet?

  34. #34
Well I seem to remember someone saying (I have no idea if this is true or not) that LE's or CE's tend to sell better in PAL regions anyway, if not in numbers in proportions of copies sold or something.

I just want to pre-order the damn thing.

During the time that the LE was announced for the US it was confirmed that Europe will be getting the LE aswell (thats how I interpretted the announcement), however there's alot of speculation as to the Big Daddy figure being left out .

I'm pretty sure that no-one from 2k will post in this thread so don't hold your breath...and the longer the wait for the announcement the less likely I think we are to getting the Big Daddy figure incuded otherwise they would have announced it alongside the US version as there would have been nothing to decide upon as they already said it will be in the UK (and hopefully the rest of Europe too).

The only other possibility (that I can think of ) is that there figuring out quantities and whether its logistically viable to release it to the whole of Europe and how to go about it ie. how many does UK get as apposed to Germany (where the game will likely be banned )....who knows, I guess we might find out in a couple more weeks ( because the games out in just over 2 months so they can't hold off much longer! ) be patient and I'm sure they will give us the news as its decided. But there's a hell of a lot to consider its not got a simple solution but to be honest I'm more concerned about the game getting all its bugs figured out before it ships than whether I get a nice Big Daddy model and a nice looking case!
