    this had to be said

after admiring the big daddy figurine 2k games so kindly included with the limited edition of bioshock, after admiring the gorgeous visuals, handling, and gameplay of the game, i have to tell you guys at 2k games... BRILLIANT job. way to ☺☺☺☺ing go!

there are way too many negative threads here, fuelled by impatience, teenage hormones/angst, and general mis-directed frustration, and i'm sure this is the first thread of a second wave of appreciation coming your way, 2k games.

i did find a few bugs in the game, which i'm sure will be patched in due time. i fervently await : )

also, 2k games, you need to understand that people have started expecting a LOT from you considering you've raised the bar. the pre-sales marketing did a great job, and was'nt just fluff. the game truly looks like a new offering that makes people expect gold from you every time, much like we did from rockstar for their awesome gta series (and manhunt :P)

please remember that a lot of the criticism here is initiated BECAUSE you've done such a good job (and people want to get even tiny nits and creases dealt with). it's up to you to live up to the massive rep you've built up for yourselves, almost spontaneously!

don't take any of the negativity to heart.

    we love this game.

I'm sure the game is absolutely ☺☺☺☺ing amazing mano but the fact is there are a metric ☺☺☺☺ton of us that can't even install the damn thing. We are kinda pissed.

I can only imagine how many layman there are who dont even know these forums exist wondering if their install is broken or something.

I played the Demo and it was just nuts. I've been chomping at the bit to get IG.

Don't get me wrong, I love the game - It is beautiful, intuitive, and all around a joy to play.

You just cant reisntall it more then once

you want them to fix it?

    just ask nicely.

i saw elizabeth's post where she claimed it's easy to uninstall and reinstall, and from a superficial glance at the posts here, it's safe to assume she's wrong (i just re-installed a second time, i will be trying a third un/reinstall today or tommorrow), and perhaps she may try it personally before stating her claim again

give them a chance. give them some time. maybe give them some love while you're at it.

i know it sounds wierd, but it's been known to help.

aggressive, non-constructive criticism never solved anything. ever.

Neither does the alienation of new customers mate, especially when you are launching arguably one of the top 3 titles of 2007 (The other two being Halo 3 and Assassins Creed, IMO).

So you've played and installed the game without issue and enjoy your fabulous new 15cm figurine—congratulations on having a solid, reasonable foundation on which to criticize those complaining about a broken product and sparse explanation.

(to be fair to you though, the nerd raging is as idiotic as it is rabid)

i'd give them a week or two to release a patch. i'm a new customer too, you know. i most likely will have an activation issue soon (since i do need a reinstall today or tommorrow), and i'll be in the same boat as you.

btw, i saw a thread here about someone who need to re-activate after two installs, emailed support@securom.com about it and recieved a new key

try it. i know i will.

I should not have to beg to play a product that I legally purchased, much less so since I have to wait for their support hours to begin before I am able TO beg.

Its like waiting in line to wade through red tape after having purchased my ticket, while watching tens of thousands of people sneak in the back entrance

*I am of course referring to the rampant piracy of the game that has been taking place for close to a week*

Surely you can only read 'FHJGHJH I AM PIRATING GAMES FROM NOW ON SO ANGRY RJHGVKGJ' so many times before the novelty wears off.

Crysis really doesn't tickle my fancy. Gameplay doesn't seem very innovative whereas Halo 3 is going to have ☺☺☺☺☺in multiplayer and AC is probably the first true 'next gen' title with its focus on free running and crowd interaction.

To each his own, I'm sure Crysis is going to be amazing graphically but pretty shiny don't do it for me anymore.

FYI, the reason i need a reinstall is because the game freezes at certain points (like right before we see the little sister kneeling at the theatre through the broken bathroom wall)

yes there are problems with the game. just give them a chance.

being arrogant and rude on this forum won't get you anywhere. not even in court. or at the BBB. or at your local retailer.

all it will do is give your sense of self worth a cheap, virtual fix.

It may wear off, Cracker, but it adds to the effect - and will hopefully encourage 2k to act before they loose many more customers.

Personally, I say bring on the whining =P

What also helps is giving customers updates and some sort of estimation as to when the servers will be up and running.

Leaving people who just dropped $50+ on a game that is only useful as a beer coaster in the dark is a BS move. Communication has been far too lax, and what communication we get is telling us that everything is pretty much not a real issue.

Top it off with throwing on what is probably the worst anti-piracy effort ever, people are going to be pissed. And rightly so.

Fair enough. I'm certainly with you on Assassins Creed, I expect it'll be fantastic. Halo 1 and 2 I found to be totally overrated though, I've seen nothing to suggest that 3 will be any different. The music is great though, and the teaser trailer did give me goosebumps for some reason.

Interesting, a personal attack based on a difference of opinion - And your supposed to be the proponent of maturity I paid for the game, I reserve the right to whine, and apparently - so do many others. If the point of your original post was simply to provide a positive reinforcement to the situation, you just ruined it.

i know what you're saying, i agree. all i'm saying is that it's easy to be polite when you're pissed

nearly every thread here was filled with pointless venting, and i though i'd add to the 'polite request' category.

and stress the fact that everything takes time. even patches for games released 2 days ago.

if you were a programmer at 2k games, would you be encouraged by the majority of posts here?

*Cough* Crysis is more than pretty shiny... It'll be a GREAT engine for modders to work with. And it also has a UT looking multiplayer. Also, the physics are amazing.

Anybody else interested in Alan Wake?

My figurine was broken and my manual not bound properly, but whatever.I heavily invested in my pc and my wifes so that we could play this game
with a widescreen LCD,and they have done little to fix the isue, but much to attempt to put spin and outright lie about it,and indirectly cliam the good folks at WSGF are clueless... Iam a member of that forum,so I feel slighted as well by this pr/crap.

No mods, and no support here for the legion of people with legitimate problems

Only time a person see's the effect of a mod is when a torrent/pirating thread gets started...again...

Silience speaks volumes in a situation like this.My wife is a supervisor in a call centre that does nothing but customer service, and has told me that 2K in her own mind has "mishandled the affair" qoute un qoute.

I am very happy with the game and have had zero crashes or problems, but I did try to install multiple times on her computer, and now one of my copies is out of installs Securom is telling me via email to talk to 2K.2K says to talk to Securom...

Ignoring a issue means you are A: eithier incompetant or B:unprepared,if you are B,go back A,end of discussion. This her professional opinion as a customer service call centre supervisor.

    Encouraged? no

Working hard to get things fixed, make the customers happy and keep my job? yes

Sadly, if they would just update the people with some sort of info as to what the hell is going on, then there would be a wave of politness among some people. Ignoring everyone while doing "Lalalalalalalalalal-cant hear you-lalalalalalalalala" is just inviting the anger thats on these forums. And to be honest, the longer they keep people in the dark, the more they deserve it.

Mine was sarcastic, but perhaps too strongly worded - the result of a long evening on tech support, and I apologize if you took offense. 2k's programmers have my respect, and my thanks for an excellent game - Hence my desire to actually play it. My sole complaint is that I cannot, after having paid for the ability to do so. My complaints are directed to those that made the decision to use this style of copy protection, and to those that are in charge of rectifying that have done nothing to assuage their customer's frustrations.

In a nutshell, my point is that a thousand voices are louder then one, and that people rarely get what they want by sitting quietly and waiting.

i know they've addressed issues about broken figurines by offering not only a brand new figurine (with free S&H) but also a new artbook that those of us who scored perfect figurines the first time will not get

judging from the work they've put into the actual game, i do believe they will release a patch for it addressing issues soon

i used to work for corporate network security support as well, i know the drill. rude customers are toyed with, then hung up on. regardless of the company's policies, it's human beings that make their wheels turn.

customers that asked nicely were given free products.

I'm going to agree with Piggsy.

They did a great job on the game.

I have no problem running the game, the wide screen issue is a minor irritant.

Did i get a Magic copy of the game that allows me to run it with no issues?

    Doubt it...

Yeah they kinda dropped the ball on supporting a range of system configs. They will fix it, have patience. They may be working on the fix right now and are too busy to read the forums.

Guys at 2k, keep up the good work, get the fix out!

first of all, the game shouldn't have released with these many bugs and to release at this state is retarded. People waited and paid the game fairly like others and can't even play? Give them time? Part of the time they had was make it so these things don't happen. Give them time? Excuse me? We are not BETA TESTERS. got it? Don't tell us wait and keep quite. I have never seen a release with so many bugs. If you can name any release with these many bugs, let me know... Even Microsoft Windows didn't give this much problem on their release and thats the end of that... The release was so bad that it's going to be on CNN? GG 2K..GFG...

    Yeah give them time.

I'm willing to bet that there are more people out there that bought the game that have it working fine vs the amount of people in here with issues.

I can here cause of the widescreen issue. now that i know there is an issue, i'll wait for it to be resolved.

I just don't understand, if they made such a bug riddled game, then how is it that mine runs perfectly?

Like I mentioned, it's not magic!

I'm not running some super computer made by the gods or anything.

Give them some time, they will have a fix.

  40. #40
One of two things will happen here, in general:

-They will fix most (or all) of the issues people are having with the game.
    -They won't.

I'm unable to get past the Bioshock logo. I'm disappointed, like every here who can't run it. But I'm confident that they will fix the problems. If they don't, I take the game back. I'm willing to wait a few MORE days to see this game, if it's as spectacular as those lucky enough to run it are saying. I could, however, start ranting and raving, throwing a fit about being "screwed", and how they're just going to take my money and run. Or, as an adult, I can simply shelve it for a few more days and see how it goes. Others are free to ☺☺☺☺☺, whine and complain - contact the Better Business Bureau, call the police, start a class action suit, call your senator, picket 2K Games' headquarters, or run through the streets with a bullhorn yelling "2K Games Sucks!". Good luck with that.
