    cyclone trap 3

has anyone set up an elaborate traps yet with cyclone trap 3? I was thinking about doing it myself but I can't think of any good ways to lure a splicer into a trap without them chasing me down.

I read somewhere in the Bioshock wiki that you could arm your traps with decoy. Might want to try that if you're having trouble luring them.

Either way, I don't really find Cyclone Trap 3 that much of a useful upgrade, but it's nice to use in Fontaine Futuristics when you "take the spotlight."

After my first play through I considered Cyclone Trap (Actually any trap) inferiour to Insect Swarm 3. Serious I consider all that ADAM wasted. Just three clicks of Insect Swarm and your set for the gathering. (I'm talking about easy, I have yet to play hard mode)

Well maybe you could try mastering Cyclone trap IDK. Im crappy with setting traps. Maybe mastering Decoy could help. When mastered it could hurt the enemies.

I'm sorry, I just despise Cyclone Trap. Sure, it's very effective, but it has a small usage rate and very little places to use it. commonly, the places are just too big.

Plasmid traps are crap to me. Use gun traps. I may not know how to use plasmids well but thats my only advice. I havent played hard yet but i recommend (even though i hate this plasmid) winter frost. Just to slow the enemy down

If you're using the cyclone trap as an actual "trap", which is more of a defensive tactic, then consider thinking of using it as an offensive weapon.

For example, if you walk around with the cyclone trap armed (like you would with the electrical bolt), you can point it at any charging splicer and fire away... and off they go flying through the air. For extra credit, shoot the splicer with your weapon as they fly or try to time it so you can drill-charge them just before they hit the ground.

Personally, the cyclone trap is one of my favorites when used offensively.

Cyclone trap in my opinion is only useful for defending little sisters.
For me its just my rivit/drill combo.

With trap spears, proximity mines, rivet traps, ext I merely never found the reason to get the Cyclone trap plasmid.

I feel like it's harder to use as an offensive weapon in the second game, I loved using it offensively in the first game it was my favorite plasmid next to winter blast and sonic boom. maybe it's just me but it seems harder to hit splicers with it this time. Maybe it's the fact that your slower, who knows?

Cyclone trap is just good for extra defence around little sisters. Other than that it's pointless

There's no need though for the whole plasmid in the first place. Through out a few trap spear lines, a few rows of rivet traps, and a few well place mines and mini turrets and more or less you don't even have to get involved except with a little cover fire.

Cyclone Trap 3 can be placed on walls, you know. Great for hurling splicers off of balconies and things like that. It can also be plced on ceilings, which is useful against spider splicers.

You really don't need traps against Big Daddies just Winter Blast and the drill works wonders. I only use traps for protecting Little Sisters I was merely stating that there are so many traps in your arsenal that the cyclone trap plasmid is useless.

Having so many choices is great What you find to be pointless, I find to be a pleasurable part of the game, re: seeing how high I can launch a splicer and then setting them on fire in mid-flight or some other nonsensical combination.

I was bit 'tarded in BS1 and never figured out how to use the cyclone trap offensively. Not sure if you're playing PC or console, but on my PC, hitting a splicer with the cyclone is almost as easy as setting them on fire.

Sonic Boom was dearly missed this time around

I always tried to hit a splicer with a spear in mid air to pin them to a wall but it never seems to work.

I never upgraded to 3 because by the time I got Cyclone Trap I was done with spider splicers so I didnt feel the need. But I do use Cyclone Trap all the time when defending my Little Sisters. Its fun to watch a splicer hit a trap, get frozen, go flying into the air, and hit the ground and shatter XD

  22. I used/got it on hard mode in uhm damn uhm that building where you find the mystery tonic, I think it's a fun plasmid.

I was sad that there were no spider splicers after Diyonisus park I wanted to hear more of their maniacal cackling they had some pretty good dialog to, oh and the building is fontaine futuristics

basically if u plan on getting bees 3 do not invest in cyclone at all? Cuz bees 2 hunt down multiple enemies and with specialist and saver 1 n 2 you can cast tons. Cuz with specialist you can still get mini turrets. just hunt down rumblers or a vending machine that sells them.

personally, i get a smile everytime i use cyclone trap, even a full on laugh if the result is funny enough

    Wink A lifesaver...

On hard, with a Circus of Values handy, this is a lifesaver. A Telekinesis trap on it's own is great. A normal rivet to the face ends them. And placing an Incinerate trap on a wall when you lure in a bunch of splicers is like bowling with a flaming wad of splicer

So yeah, it's always fun to set up a 6 trap chain reaction for the Elite Brute Splicers in the finale.

Never ended up using Cyclone Trap 3, for the same reason as Donut232, by the time I got it, it was basically useless since you have no more LS gathering missions.

Early on when your options for traps are limited (like Pauper's Drop) using cyclone traps alongside them was quite effective for gathering, and once you get level 2 it's even better. Charge with incinerate to catch one on fire, does more damage to him AND can catch other splicers on fire. Charge with Insect swarm so that a swarm of bees gets released just as your traps are getting depleted. Winter blast to instantly destroy a weaker splicer. Electro bolt when in water.
Personal favorite, place a bunch of TK charged traps around your sister, and then a Mini Turret nearby. Holds them still in the air while the turret whittles down their health.
