bioshock.exe has stopped working

installed quickly, auto updated quickly, installed the 163.44 nvidia driver, installed the AMD Optimizer, try to run the game and a small box with a bioshock picture shows up for a moment then i get this error: "bioshock.exe has stopped working"

solution?

Vista 64 bit
Nvidia Geforce 7800 256 MB
4 GB RAM

Some people have got it to work by forcing DirectX 9. Add -dx9 to the command line to run the game. It looks like the game trys DX10 first and doesn't switch to DX9 very well.
