Because the CD that comes with the special edition is the Original Score for Bioshock 2, featuring Garry Schyman's orchestral soundtrack. The soundtrack you linked to on iTunes is the one that contains most of the "licensed" songs from the game.
Another question that I didn't notice until following the US itunes link to the "Special Edition" version of the licensed soundtrack is... why is the US "Special Edition" soundtrack $11.99 while the Canadian "Special Edition" soundtrack is only $9.99?
I thought it was odd that the non "Special Edition" version and the "Special Edition" version were the same price on the Canadian iTunes store, but just bought the Special Edition and didn't give the matter much thought after that. I assumed it would be the same on the US store, but apparently not. I guess this comes as a little heads up to any Canadians that have had their eye on this (or any Americans that know how to switch stores).
Honestly, I still wish 2K would release a physical copy of this. I'd buy it again for the first time!
yea im not a big fan of digital releases so a physical one to add to my bioshock treasure trove would be nice ha.

Most soundtracks now are released digitally only, so don't expect them to release any physical version of it.
A number of the songs on the "official" soundtrack are not in the game, and a number in game are not on the soundtrack. For the full soundtrack, look here.
I'm a big fan of Bioshock but the special edition is so crappy.
I bought it because I like the soundtracks and I got an LP that I can't listen (who got a LP reader in 2010? ) and a CD with 26 rumor tracks.
Where are the beatiful songs of the game?
