    Civ Rev and Civ 4?

I'm new to the Civ series, I was introduced to Civ by playing my friends Civilization Revolution game... Now, With my intreast peaked for Civ 5, I really want to try Civ 4...

    My question is basically:

"How different is Civ 4 from Civ Rev?"

    Besides the computer aspect.

They are essentially completely different games, a Rev game will take a few hours at most, a Civ 4 game will take a few days at least, everything is much more expansive, the map is far bigger, you typically have 12-20 cities by mid-game, larger militaries, and a lot more direct control over your cites and improvements.

Is it bad that I started out with Civilization Revolution? I mean, Civ 4 sounds more complex, not that it's turning me off from buying the game or anything, but I'm merely curious to hear a more professional point of view from people who has played both games compared to myself, who's only been playing Civ Rev.

I wouldn't say it's bad that you started with Revolutions, but you may need to unlearn some habits from Rev. I started with Civ 1, and though I by no means play on the higher difficulty levels, I am quite familiar with the games. Everyone likes saying revolutions is dumbed down, it really isn't, it's just a far smaller scale.

The basic concepts pass over, the tech tree for example, but my best advice would probably to watch this series of videos, unfortunately the second game ends early and the creator disappeared, but the narrator really nails a lot of key concepts in Civ iv and it may better prepare you for your own conquests.
