bug?: trapped by Simon Wales

This issue must be posted elsewhere but I don't see it. This concerns Bioshock 2 on PS3. I was battling Simon Wales on my way to Pump #5 & I was killed. I revived in the Vita Chamber beyond the battle & am now trapped. I can't proceed through the door to turn on Pump 5 & can't go back through the door where Simon Wales defeated me. I get the feeling he is still alive as the hint says I still must defeat him. But I can't get to him or anywhere else. I don't want to go back to an older save as it's really old & don't want to go through everything again. Is there a way to fix the issue within the game or maybe a patch by 2k has been released to do so? Thanks in advance...

Did you mean Father Wales? If so, I ran into the same problem on Xbox 360, and caused me to stop playing Bioshock 2. I'll pick it up again if they patch that locked door and let me keep playing, but I haven't been enjoying the game enough to replay 3 hours of content yet.

yep, that's who I mean. sounds like the same problem...

It's a known issue that "should" be fixed in an upcoming patch. But I wouldn't hold my breath.

That's weird, because there is a Vita-Chamber in the room you fight him in, so I have no idea why you wouldn't respawn in that one

first thing i did before starting the game was turning off vita chambers, i still dunno why people use them. i just save the game and load when needed

That's precisely the problem. If you do like me, as soon as the splicers started charging at me, I backed up into the previous room. But apparently, if you go into the next room, the door locks behind you. So, since I'm in the previous room, the splicers came to me, and unfortunately killed me. Then I respawned in the Vita Chamber IN THE NEXT ROOM (the one you mentioned), and the door locked behind me, with the boss in that room that I can no longer get to. So I'm stuck forever.

Try this to get back in to the room, and continue the fight with Mr Wales!

Oops, noticed you're getting this on PS3 - the fix above is for PC only...

We have no cofirmed dates for any patches as yet.

I just encountered the same problem moments ago. I was sad and running around the room for a while. I managed to hack all the machines (ammo vending machine, regular vending machine, and the first aid station) before I jumped back down to in between the destroyed pews below. I paused the game and waited a while. I waited a few minutes and then he jumped down and started to attack me with his little buddies. Try hacking all the machines and then pausing down by the pews for at least two or three minutes and see if it helps.

Im also having a problem of becoming trapped and in various places not just there, in the pink pearl the 3rd floor hooker room with the 3 peepshow the door just closed and i could not get out no matter what i tried had to reload from autosave Im on x360
