    Religion spreading from parent city

If a city has a religion and creates a settler, when that settler builds up a city, that city should already have the parent religion.

Perhaps, but I think a city should have to have had a religion for a number of turns before it produces settlers 'carrying' that religion. I say this because it would represent the fact that not everyone in the city will be of that religion straight away, indeed the believers might be in the minority, so that a settler group should not necessarily be composed of believers in that religion. Perhaps this would not be a problem if it was the state religion, as the state would decide when to found new cities and who settled them, or at least it could decree that the state religion would be practiced (or should that only be the case when a civic such as 'Organized Religion' was in effect?).

What would happen though if a city had two religions, and neither was the state religion? Random chance for either religion to be carried by the settler, or neither carried?

Unfortunately it looks there will be no Religion in Civ 5.

Where did you see/read that? That would be a little disappointing, I thought it was a good addition to Civ IV, far better than corporations (which in my mind are private businesses, so why is the state responsible for spreading them).

Hoping they are still in Civ V, your settler instead of containing the parent religion, it could contain a minor religion removing it from the parent city. Since religious persecution (not necessarily by the state) did cause lots of emigration, such as puritans leaving Europe to go to America, or a better "settle unit" based example the Mormons founding salt lake city. But it could follow different rules each time, so some times it takes only the main religion, some times removes a small religion and some times takes a mix.

In an interview done on a danish magazine, where all the little info we currenlty know come from. The actual quote is: "religion won't be a factor anymore"... which probably means no religion at all.
I liked the addition of religion in Civ 4 a lot.. so I hope they will decide to keep it.
