My old theory

okay well ive been wanting to do this for a while but, i remember and i think we all remember the bioshock (sea of dreams) teaser trailer. it had everyone thinking what would happen in the next game, but im not sure if anyone thought the same as i did.
well heres my theory of the teaser trailer when it first came out.
i thought that the girl was one of jacks daughters that he rescued in the first one, but she was a different one not like the others, that she had the need to go back to rapture or something like that (judging by the BD doll) so she would go back to rapture , turn to the big sister (this is when we thought there was only going to be 1 Bs, until 2k said there will be more) and start kidnapping little girls ,bringing them to rapture and turning them to big sisters. i have more about the old theory but ill leave it at that

When I first saw that trailer I didn't know of the concept of the Big Sister.

It just felt like one of the little sisters who couldn't quite let go or Rapture and be one of those "hands" at the end of the first game (good ending), getting married, educated, raising family, etc.

Maybe the cleansing process only worked 95% on her, or when she underwent transformation into a little sister she was a bit different to the other girls and she carried this though her life - a black sheep in a saved flock. Regardless that she felt some connection to Rapture and her previous life she couldn't shake....

Also, off-topic, but I wish they kept "Sea of Dreams". Awesome title and very fitting when looking back restrospectively on the game and story.

Same thing you did, but when I learned abot Eleanor and kore Big Sisters, I thought that Eleanor went topside but remembered Delta after ten years and went back to Rapture as the OG Big Sis but this was before I learned the the idea of the original big sister had been tossed out.

More or less what I thought. Some LS got lonely or bored or w/e on the surface, and went back to jump start the city.

That said, I'm glad they didn't. Having to fight and almost kill the same enemy repeatedly is annoying and emersion breaking (either you magically can't kill the enemy every time till that last time, or there is some convient reason for the enemy not being able to leave that doesn't make sense). Plus, every time it runs away at low health, it has to come back stronger, which doesn't make any sense.
