    Question Killing Big Sister Help/Advice!

I'm trying to play this on the "Hard" level, without Vita-Chambers (never even tried that on the first game yet!), and I was doing okay, until now, after Splicing up with "Incinerate" I can hear my first Big Sister screeching!

I was hoping she would come into the Plasmid Room, where I have the Turrett hacked, so at least I'll have a chance, but she stays out of there! lol

Anyhow, I have full Health (NO other Health Kits!), and full EVE (with NO additional Hypos!).....So, basically, I think I screwed myself!?

Full Drill Power, Electrobolt, Incinerate, Telekinesis, 18(+9) Heavy Rivets, Machine Gun 40 rounds (+9), etc.

    Any advice?

I really wanted to try to do this, but I've died about 5 times already! LOL!

Without at least a couple more Health Kits and EVE Hypos, I'n NOT sure this can even be dne!?

How much money do you have? What you could do, is shock her so you have enough time to jump off the platform down to where your first gather was and use the Circus of Values machine to buy more Eve Hypos and Health Kits.

Actually, that's a really good idea, never thoght of that one.

Cannot remember how much I have right now, I think not enough to buy a Health Kit though?

I was thinking of trying to make it back down the Maintenence Door where I came from just before splicing with Incinerate, and the Ride at Ryan Amusements ends.....I have a hacked Security Camera there....

I really don't think she would let me make it that far before killing me off though! lol

If you have any money, you can check the map for the closest Circus of Values and buy Healthpacks and Hypo's as suggested by Shifty.
Alternatively, you could quickly run to any Health Stations you have nearby and smash them open with the drill to drop a healthpack.

It's doable, but it's definitely a challenge while you're far from godlike...

If you want a fair fight, I'd spread the weapon upgrades around... get damage upgrades for 2 of your 3 weapons. Upped heavy rivets take nice chunks out of her, and the upped .50 cal is respectable. I haven't used the drill against her much, as getting into melee range with this particular sister is pretty hazardous. You can't freeze/dash yet. I haven't done a drill only playthrough yet, but I'll try it eventually.

There's 11 oil drums scattered around the map. Use them. Haul them into the area where you'll fight her beforehand, and fling them at her.

If you want to KO her and giggle, take those same 11 oil drums and stack them up on/near that bench next to her spawn point. Then when she appears, hit them with a few rivets or Incinerate. If this doesn't outright kill her, it'll take her health down to critical. This setup takes some time and care to prepare, but I've done it a couple times now and it really will knock her flying if you set it up right.

Yeah, what Greenlandys and Painman suggested is going to need to be part of your plan, I think.

Right now, your best bet would be to lure her back into the room so your turret will attack it, I dont know how much health it has or how much of a beating it can take, but it should give you a few second to get away from her. You're gonna need to scavenge the map for supplies while she's distracted. Also, be sure to keep an eye trained on her. If you're fast enough, you can dodge most of her attacks.

The only problem is that she will not come into the Plasmid room with the hacked Turret, and when I go down the stairs, even just close to the door, she somehow make me fly through it to face her, and she locks it somehow behind me!?

    I hate that!

Yeah, I did not think to prepare with the oil drums beforehand (so there are really 11 on the upper AND lower level - where you do your first Harvest with the Little Sister??? I saw a few, but didn't realize there were THAT many!?).

I guess I can go back a few Saved Game, and load from there to do it proper (but that's almost cheating...to me anyhow! lol)!

    Thanks for that tip.

I think that might be my only alternative, as my Health Station on the Lower Level was hacked and smashed already, so that's history.

Also, it's not like I can just leave the Plasmid Room and wander around the Gift Shop (why do the Splicers like it so much there btw? There's ALWAYS at least 2 there at any given time!)), and the El Dorado Lounge to kill Splicers and check em for loot to buy a Health Kit.

I'll try a couple more times, then try the oil drum technique. I really hate to cheat that way, but I may not have any other choice!?).....Thanks again for that tip btw!

Hope I can find all 11 oil drums if it comes to that!

I'm stuck there with "Her" out there! lol

This is going from memory, so I might be off a bit on these oil drums.

1 is in the large foyer with the ticket machine.

2 are in the main hall where Big Sis appears.

2 are in the restaurant where you fight the Big Daddy.

1 is in Hall of the Future, the other 5 are scattered around the ride.

Just make sure you do what you want with them before you hit the Gatherer's Garden and buy Incinerate.

I just tried this, and it totally works, thanks!

I had to come out with Telekinesis ready to throw back the rocks she was swirling around, then got one drum and threw it at her, which caused an explosion, which lowered her health to about 15-20% red zone! It was still a nasty fight, with no Health Kits and less than half my Health left and only my Drill!!!

I could only find about 5-6 drums, but a couple more would have put her down for good on the first toss!

There was a Health Kit looking down below on the roof of the lower platform that I missed too btw, and didn't find it until AFTER the first Big Sister fight! ARG!.

    Glad I could help.

That Big sis is the worst one IMO... you're so limited in what you can do to her, but for all the others you can find more ways to blow them up.

I'm on hard mode as well, wait till you get to the later levels with no money and a big sis coming your way. I had to do the cowardly thing which was to run away and shoot, run away and shoot.

Shoot the barrel and then run, switch to trap rivets and fire them at the wall she will chase you and be hit by all of them. If you have drill upgrades at this point elec and then drill her. Might be pretty hard with no health packs! This happened to me on my first playthrough, I beat her with with 1 health pack. Just don't get hit by her telekensis and jump when she leaps at you.

I totally did that, set up Trap Rivets, but I'm not sure how effective they were, plus I lost a few when some Splicers came in roaming around while I was setting things up! "BASTARDS!...."

I'm still playing on Hard with Vita-Chambers turned off. It's difficult, and I've died about 5-6 times so far (just started Siren Alley)......Actually, the 'Hard" level is only slightly more difficult than the "Normal" level I have found (so far!!!!!!)......

I found that the second Big Sister fight in Pauper's Drop was a little easier.....I just hid in that room with the hacked fire-bomb Turrett, and kept hitting her with Winter Blast.....A Big Daddy roaming nearby didn't help matters much when he got hit though! lol

I'm saving my progress about every 10 minutes! lol

I'm kinda worried about dealing with Simon Wales, as I find he is one of the toughest Splicers to fight, and also worried about the Big Sisters in Inner Persephone once I get there.......

I'll have to remember these tips everytime I play....I just go through the motions without giving much thought to any sort of planning which is a HUGE mistake!

Don't worry about those Sisters in Inner Persephone. Hypnotize yeah!

Are you supposed to kill the first big sister? She always runs away after awhile.
I thought it was scripted that way..because after she leaves she taunts you for awhile..

Well, that is, technically, the first Big Sister......So we are actually talking about the second Big Sister at Ryan Amusements after you buy Incinerate, when you have to fight her to the death in order to proceed on with the game.....

I just LOVE doing this now! It doesn't really take that much time to set up, or even go out of your way to do it......

I had about 7 drums this time (including the one inside on way to Gatherer's Garden to first buy Incinerate!).....

I stacked them all by the oil spill near the bench where she first appears.

When she blasts me out, I used Incinerate first, which causes a massive explosion, and she jumps/flies upwards towards the ceiling, and lands back down with about 5% health.....

A SINGLE Heavy Rivet shot to her head put her down.....

The whole thing takes about 5 seconds in total.

And you're right, she's the toughest Big Sister to deal with with such a limited Plasmid and ammo cache.

Yeah, her placement and such are scripted. You HAVE to fight her in teh big, central area of Ryan Amusements.

Anyhow, I have full Health (NO other Health Kits!), and full EVE (with NO additional Hypos!).....So, basically, I think I screwed myself!?
    Do you have MONEY?!?

There's a pair of vending machines - one of each - "downstairs", you might be able to get there if you make a run for it ASAP. Don't even look fo stairs - just vault the frelling handrail, take the falling damage, and GO-GO-GO!! Once you drop down, they're on the side o the central divider that faces the door to the Lounge, which was to your LEFT as you entered the central area (and first see the Big Sister). They're down where you did your first Gather.

As a bonus, there's an area of oil there; you might be able to get some good hurtin' on her with an incinerate on the oil, followed by an electrobolt to her face.

    Glad you enjoy.

I did it again too in my latest playthru. I know that fight is supposed to be a big challenge, but a big part of my fun in this game is finding alternative ways to do stuff like that.

Exclamation Good Places To Be When "SHE" Comes For You!

The Big Sister always comes after you place the second Little Sister in the vent (before dealing with the third Little Sister, if there are three on that particular level!)......

For myself, I've found what are my favourite places to be when she comes around:

Ryan Amusements: Well you're stuck fighting her right there and then, so no where you can really run to....

Pauper's Drop: The Room with the (hacked!) fire-bomb Turrett (the area of Pauper's Drop after you break through the Brute's rocks with the Drill!), and Security Camera nearby is a good place to be when she comes around....Watch out for a roaming Big Daddy though, and time your putting the Little Sister in the vent nearby accordingly!

Siren Alley: Run into the Grocery Store, all the way to the back room with the safe hidden behind a painting (not downstairs with the (hacked!) Turett in the water, but stay upstairs!), this is where you first hit the "Conspicuous Switch" when you first entered the store by the cash register, run through the back into the room with the Security Camera just outside the door on the ceiling, and throw down all 4 Mini Turretts on the table, and use Winter Blast!

Dionysus Park: In that once frozen room with all of the (hacked!) Turrets and Security Cameras is by far, the BEST place to be! Set up some Trap Rivets, Trap Spears, and stay in the Northwest corner under a Security Camera and Turrett.....Fire down a couple of Mini Turretts as well.....Some Splicers will come around, and she always gets distracted by them before kiling them, which gives you time to put her down!

Fontaine Futuristics:After turning on the circuit breakers for Gil Alexander, the basement area with the (hacked!), Security camera, layed out with a Mini Turrett, Trap Rivets and Trap Spears, takes her out surprisingly easily!

These spots all work very for me......You guys have any different spots you prefer to be when Big Sister comes around?

I think the order of which Little sis triggers the Big sis depends on difficulty? I play on Hard, and for me it's almost always the first little sis I deal with that triggers Big sis... Anyway -

Ryan Amusements - you know this one already.

Pauper's - Skid Row, by the camera and rocket turret. I lay dead splicers down in front of the camera as bait for a BD/LS pair. Wait for them to come, then dump my LS into the vent in the water pool. When Big sis arrives, I enrage the BD and hide behide something until the BD and Big sis start fighting. Then I get my camera rolling on her and start pelting her with stuff. I end up with either a dead Big sis and a mostly dead BD, or a mostly dead Big Sis and a dead BD. Either way, I finish off whoever's left standing and scoop up my next Little sis out of the wreckage.

Siren - almost the same thing, Hedone Plaza, in front of the orphanage and the security camera.

Dionysus - Yeah, Imago Gallery. I can't resist.

Fontaine - Holding cells area, in the rocket turret room. Same drill as before, get a Rumbler with Little sis to join in the fray, fling bees, etc., get it on film.

I've found that the Big Sis always comes when you finish the 'last' sister in a level: that is, if you are dealing with them all the first chance you get. The Ryan Amusements sister is scripted to only come around at the specific time, but after that the next one seems to come after you deal with 2 little sisters (there are 2 in Pauper's Drop) and then one comes every 3 little sisters after that (there are 3 little sisters in every subsequent level through Fontaine Futuristics). I'd assume that if you skip one and take it in a later level, this order of Big Sisters would still hold up. I always play on hard mode, and I never progress to the next level without clearing out all the little sisters available to me, so I haven't tested all of the variables, but this would make sense from a game design standpoint.

As for the first full length Big Sis fight, I had problems with this fight and most Big Sis fights on my first playthrough, but I've picked up a few tricks since then. Being a rivet gun guy, I always blow my first two PTTP stations on my trusty industrial strength killing machine. This makes my heavy rivets, along with a constant Incinerate burning spree, more than a match for the first Big sister. Similar story for the Pauper's Drop sister. After the first two Big Sis kills, I tend to think that your weapon and plasmid arsenals will have grown in breadth and power enough to make Big Sis fights very winnable, if somewhat draining on health kits. Stacking barrels and such is fine, and perfectly legitimate... but something in me still loves to duke it out the 'old fashioned' way.

As for a general tip in dealing with Big Sisters, find cover between you and her. Whether it be a pillar, wall, heap of rubble, or what have you, something to quickly duck behind will render nearly all of her ranged attacks totally ineffective. The trick is that her ranged attacks come in spurts, so when she gathers a ton of objects over her head, DUCK! Pop back out after a few seconds. When she starts throwing fire, DUCK! Same routine. Shoot her in between her barrages, and it's just cheaty powerful. When she charges, side step and make her pay for it (either with electro-bolt or the drill (or both)).
