A civ V civ IV mod

Following Civ V has made me impatient, I want to try out combat with no stacks and bombardment. Are there any Civ IV mods that do this? Is it possible for a mod to implement these features?

I've never made a mod, but i would think that it'd be difficult to due, plus you will not have the added tactical strategy of hexes as opposed to squares.

Yeah, I installed Panzer General to try to get a feel for it but they're very different games. In a battle how much of a difference will hexes make to squares except for a few less directions to move in?

Civ4 was supposed to be no stacks. I wish civ5 luck with that, lol.

I think the biggest difference will come with hexes and no stack; yes there are fewer places to move toward, but with no stack, it will force people to use different troops for different purposes. Cavalry etc can be used to flank opponents, melee units will be on the front lines, and ranged units (archers, longbow, cannons, artillery, etc) can be behind the melee units (essentially firing over the frontlines).

It's going to take battles from two squares and expand it to encompass several, allowing for actual "front lines" of battle.

I think people are getting carried away, unless I've missed something...

There's still no proof that stacking is out. In Civ4, when units are stacked you only see the top unit (unless you have set it differently in options). This is no different than what we are seeing with the screenshots from Civ5. I'm not saying the idea is good or bad, simply stating that we shouldn't let ourselves get too caught up with the idea. If we do, when ciV comes out, we might find disappointment.

I think the idea was taken because no stacking was implemented in CivRevolutions (I haven't played, so correct me if I am wrong).

Which wouldn't mean anything other than them making the same assumption.
