This is awesome. I love the multiplayer, so much fun!
So are the new characters the prisoner and rich man?? Cause i want those characters.
This is why I hate DLCs.
All we have to wait for now are micro-transactions and a fee just to play online.
Unfortunately my lust for Bioshock content will most likely cause me to buy it anyway, and that the new content seem awesome. I guess I just got mixed feelings about this DLC and can't decided what I think.![]()
Well, I guess this is where our problem is then. I don't actually really see it as a money grab. It's obviously something they put work into, and I feel that $5.00 is an adequate price for the stuff they're giving us: new levels, new trials, more weapon upgrades, and many new cosmetic options. As for being on the disc, I see it as simply a way for them to save time and money by putting it already on the disc instead of actually making us download it all hen the DLC is actually released. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see the stuff released for free, who wouldn't, but I don't really see much of a problem with paying $5.00 for it.
Another point I hadn't considered before is that the data may not have been fully finished when the game was first released. They may have started it, and then had Take 2 force it out the door. I guess we'll just see what happens later. =/
What are these extra 10 levels they are talking about?
I would like to see about 2-3 new SP levels and maybe two new weapons with New Game + mode, little sisters, pttp machines.
I wonder what new plasmids and tonics we will get?
Omg, i cant wait, ill bet to get to level 50 you need 150,000 ADAM, good thing i already have 98,000.
I will buy the new content, but achievements would be a major plus. So PLEASE include them!
Cool we get new characters. I can't wait to see what they look like
There are some pictures here -

definatly going to buy the DLC and i bet the single player content will include Tenebaums side of BioShock 2![]()
Ss anyone else a bit nervous about what the single player dlc will do to the possibilities of Bio 3? Because it seems if they add on more levels and such. It might hinder the chances of Bio 3. I'm all for the idea of new single player dlc but not if it hurts the chances of Bio 3
But, would you be ok with them having Telekinesis and the speargun on the disc but not functional in game. Then, charging you $5 later to use it in the SP? At what point is something part of the original game and at what point is it extra? That is the question here. What we as gamers do not want to see is companies slowly dialing back what is first released and then charging more for stuff that was essentially ready to go at launch.

Yes! DLC! Not only for MP but for Campaign as well! This made my day! ^_^
wuts it gonna cost and will it throw new trophys in? (i hope not mp trophys suck)
Personally, I would not be happy with having Telekinesis and Speargun removed. But you also have to consider that the data for the new MP characters may not actually be finished. Not to mention that they seem to be the only thing actually on the disc that is a part of the DLC pack. It sounds like the other stuff is new stuff they're adding on.
I agree.
Now before I say the following, let me say that this is only partially my personal view. I am just trying to put together a clear articulation of the most cynical viewpoint of how this all works.
Before such a thing as DLC, when you bought a game, you bought the full experience. You didn't expect that, a month later, you had to buy another disk which had a small amount of extra stuff on it. And then, if a company released an add-on pack or an expansion, it wasn't as soon as only a month after the original game, and it was really a full-featured thing, developed afterwards.
I think this line of reasoning for some people to be unhappy is not unreasonable....
- This content was already made
- In fact, this content was on the disc
- Amount of content could be considered small
- "DLC" released only a month after the original game
- "DLC" released when serious problems with original game still not addressed or fixed
It's as if the development plan is no longer "let's make the full game and charge full price for it," the plan is, "let's make the full game, and then decide which pieces we can break off and use as DLC, since everyone is doing DLC these days, and we'll charge the full price for the game that's missing a few bits, and then we can charge extra to enable the DLC bits, which we'll stick on the disc to save download bandwidth."
Here's my argument against those points.
-We can't know for sure that all of the data was actually fully finished. It may have been started, and half finished, but all the necessary code may not be there.
-Again, we know some information is on the disc, but we don't know if everything is there and finished.
-This is more of an opinion thing. I personally don't really see it as small, but whatever.
-That is something I can see people having a problem with. But maybe they've now had the time to finish of what they needed to for those things that might not have been finished whent he game was released.
- 2K is probably working night and day to ensure all of those problems are fixed. A small patch is being released tomorrow, and more patches are coming soon in the future to fix problems.
I agree. There is kind of a stigma against key unlocks and it is understandable, believe me. But I think if you look at it this way it makes sense. I definitely don't begrudge them for holding back a few characters for pre-order exclusives/DLC. It makes business sense and the six default characters that they included in the game were perfectly sufficient if they didn't ever create any others.
I think that is something that gets forgotten, especially in relation to the gaming industry. It is a business. People are in it to work, to make money. Yes, having fun factors in there too, as does creating pieces of art, but it is an industry and a relatively youthful one for all the power that it wields.
The way I look at it, projected marketing/ business plans work differently to tech plans. I highly doubt that when the BS2 DLC plan was made they thought they were going to have issues with the PC version of MP. Alternatively though, the MP addition is very small. We get 2 new skins, some more ranks and some new customization.
I think what people are missing with that is essentially at rank 40 the "story" of multiplayer was finished. What are they going to do with these additional 10 levels now, or is the story just going to be suspended in a constant "last day of the civil war?" I've started to be rather curious as to where the plot will go now.
\_(O.O)_/
*runs to store and gets a mircosoft points card and writes a note on it saying "Don't use til BioShock 2 DLC is released." *
Your points are all valid. The stuff that is "already on the disc" could be stuff they never would have started developing if downloadable content didn't exist. So, they could have started it knowing they couldn't finish for release and would just polish it up for a DLC. They included what they had on the disc to save download time. All perfectly reasonable and acceptable. The point is you'll never really know what content is this stuff and what stuff was trimmed off the release solely for profit like Relight talks about. It is a sticky situation and companies getting away with the trimming of content is bad news for budget-conscious gamers.

lets hope there are new maps for mutiplayer too
You really don't need to add any more story to it. More levels just keeps players interested in playing more (and therefore a market for map packs). Hell, throw in some basic splicer models to play as. They don't all need to have story audio files and such. It would be nice (and they might have a plan that all MP characters need the story bits) but ultimately unnecessary. A bit more variety on the playing field would be welcome.
If I buy the new DLC before hitting 40 will I have to wait until 50 to "beat" the multiplayer?
ah nice I can't wait until it comes out (does anyone know when it comes out by the way?)
