Game fails to start, asking or updated Windows Live

Everytime I try to start the game, I get the window informing me that Games for Windows - Live is not installed or outdated. Please install the latest Games for Windows - Live from xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, and then my system tries to download yet another copy of the Games for Window - Live software.

How do I get by this to launch the game??

    Thanks

Completely remove GFWL from Programs + Features in the control panel, close down all background applications, re-download and install the GFWL client from http://www.microsoft.com/games/en-us...ivelaunch.aspx

    Thumbs down This is bull****

You've got to be kidding me. Games for Windows Live normally sucks ass, but THIS is the first time I've never been able to get into the game.

First time I installed, I changed the install directory to "program files" instead of "Program Files (x86).... that put me into an endless update loop in GFWL.

SO, I uninstalled, accepted the all the defaults. Now Bioshock won't even start because it won't recognize GFWL is installed. Already installed the redistributable for GFWL but of course, that didn't fix it or I wouldn't be positing here pissed off. This is why console games are crushing the PC in sales.... buggy, overly-complicated installations and copy protection mechanisms. I'm so glad I shelled out $50 for a game that I've invested HOURS into and I haven't even been able to play it for 1 second yet.

Welcome to the forums, With regards to Bioshock2 not starting what is the exact error message you are receiving? If the message is generic, There may be more information in the event logs for either Xlive (which is the GFWL dll file) or Bioshock2.exe. If you are not sure on how to post this event information please refer to the following thread: Before Posting
