If not, uninstall it, then install it and let Steam install it to the default path.
I don't even get the option to change the install location on steam, but I am going to reinstall regardless. Last time I did an uninstall and reinstall of the game, it the status was listing as Updating even though it seemed to be acquiring the entire game again. This time status is Downloading. Crossing my fingers on this one...will post results when install is done.

Alright I'm happy to post that I've managed to get everything working ok!

Instead of removing the game content through the steam menu, I went into Programs and Features and attempted the uninstall from there. Though it still brought up the steam confirmation to remove the game, I dunno...something just worked. I ran the game and let gfwl download and prepare the update, and after exiting to begin installing everything went smooth with neither of the 2 errors I was getting previously.

It really came down to a serious error with the install from steam, so I feel that is where the blame should be placed. I got the game right at release time, literally within the first hour it was up for download on site. Not sure what happened but this procedure worked, and I want to take the time to thank all of you that took some time to aid me with all of this even with my frustration. I hope this can help others out with similar problems. If you've purchased from steam and are getting any errors with the update patch, remove the game content and files completely and try from scratch!

Thanks again guys, now I can finally finish the game! Eagerly awaiting the widescreen fix that I hope will be out soon!

    Hi,

Like the original poster, I have the exact same problem. But reinstalling has not solved it for me. I purchased my copy of the game over Steam.

I have RAD Video installed, but one thing I've noticed is that Bioshock does not appear under my list of programs in control panel's "Programs and Features" section. Also I cannot find an entry for Bioshock in my registry, neither

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\2K Games\BioShock 2
    nor
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\2K Games\BioShock 2\MP
    nor
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\2K Games\BioShock 2\SP

like a previous poster pointed out.

    My system specs are:

    Windows 7 Home Premium (32bit)
    Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E6850 3.00Ghz (2CPUs)
    4096MB RAM

    NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT
    1520 MB
    6/8/2010

Digital Audio (S/PDIF) High Definition Audio
    7/14/2009

Can anyone help me with my problem?

    Thanks
