    Problem with re-mapped controls

My problem is so dumb I'm not even sure it should go in technical support, but here we go:

I don't like almost any of the default mappings, so I customized them. The thing is, some functions are not shown in the options screen, and now I don't know how to perform them! D: Even worse, the on-screen tutorials keep referring to what I assume was the default config, which is of no help.

Specifically, I'm talking about "Adopt Little Sister" (Default "F"). I've mapped the "F" key to use health kits, and now when I try to adopt her I get a message saying my health is already at max, what am I stupid or what =P --and the poor kid just keeps crying there.

Of course, I can roll back to the default config and not use the "F" this time around, but I thought it was something worth taking note, maybe to address it in an eventual patch.

OK, here's something more odd: I noticed my issue is listed among the fixes of the patch, but I keep having it even though I do have the patch installed.

Even weirder, I'm not seeing any of the negative effects of the patch on MP (no lag, can charge plasmids, holding down button works fine). For all intents and purposes it would seem like I don't have the patch, but I *did* install it o_O I downloaded from another site, though, not through GFWL. Is there any way to know for sure whether the patch is there or not?

GFWL doesn't ask me to install it anymore, which would seem to be a way of saying, but, between you and me, I don't trust GFWL much ¬¬

The problem with the displayed version, as I understand it, is that we're only shown two digits, and the upgraded version is something like 1.0001--something. We should check in the console, but I'm not sure whether that's even possible.

Right-click the Bioshock 2.exe, then Properties and then the Details tab.

Or, highlight the game in Games Explorer and it should tell you the version at the bottom.

Or, check Add/Remove and see if the patch is listed.

I don't have the patch installed, but the methods above work for most games.

Well, look at that, you're right. And the version shown is 1.0.0.0, which I guess explains a few things.

    Now...

    - Why doesn't GFWL ask me to update the game anymore if I still have 1.0?
    - Where the hell did the patch got installed? (it did all the installing show like the files were being copied and whatnot, so it is installed somewhere)
    - How do I install the thing?
    - Can't Microsoft get one bleeding thing straight? ¬¬

Congratulations, GFWL, you did it again. Just like Britney.

On second thought, it would seem I accidentally managed a way to get connected to GFWL without installing that beak-it-all patch, so this might be a good thing after all =D

Isn't there a way to reset the controls back to their default configuration?

I just kept F as the default use button, but remapped the secondary slot next to it. It worked fine for me. I think that you may have to set your medic packs to another key. For some reason the F key wont read if remapped

Oh, regarding that, I realized that you can use the "Use" key to adopt the Little Sister, despite what the game itself tells you (in my case, it's Left Ctrl).

I rebound the keys...( N52 TE Speedpad )

I rebound " Use" to E and I can loot bodies, interact with stuff, pick up little sisters with the E key....yet I must still use F for hacking ( To stop the needle...)

    Weird huh?

Hmm... Im having the same issue remapping F (to health).... got stuck at a part in the beginning... where I need to hack a door and I cant stop the needle with F remapped to use as health.

I've confirmed I have version 1.0.0.1 and resetting to default fixes the problem. So did the patch fix this or no... I dont get it

    Failed Remap Info

I have tracked down what key bindings fail to properly remap and have posted them in another thread(see link above)
