Understanding the Good Ending SPOILERS

Alright, so I'm NOT talking about the 'Absorbed into Eleanor' bit, because that's not as rage inducing as the part I'm talking about. I actually like that bit and find it sweet/creepy/poignant as the ending goes in relation to the whole Father/Daughter thing.

What I'm talking about is the part that makes this Phlox Pawn's jaw clench: how Lamb survives in the good ending. Now I was pissed at first, but then I started to think about it and I got it.

Eleanor saving her mother is proof that Lamb is utterly wrong.

Lamb's whole deal is that human Free Will will always lead to ruin. People, when given their own options, will always do the most selfish, basest, nastiest option and not care for others. Compassion, Selflessness, Nobility, there are all things that cannot exist when people are themselves. She thought that Jack, while being controlled by a monster, was a paragon because if he was given a noble cause, he would do it without doubt or self-concern.

At that point Eleanor is a total lost cause to her. Delta has 'infected' her with independence and self-will, and will end up being just another selfish, greedy brat out for herself and her own needs. In the Bad Ending (and slightly in the Sacrifice Ending) this is very true and Eleanor lets Sophia drown. Not for justice, not because of what she did to Sinclair or Mark, not even for what she did to Delta, it was 'She hurt me, so here's payback *****.'

In the good ending however, Eleanor proves her mother wrong. She does something that she has no reason to do, in fact she does something nearly EVERYONE has a negative reaction to, because we want Lamb to die at that point, for our own need for revenge. Eleanor is being the better person, the better INDIVIDUAL person who made the choice to save her mother on her own. Proving Sophia to be totally full of it, like Ryan and the rest. It's the better ending because it shows that Eleanor is a good person, because she wants to be a good person. I like that.

However, that doesn't stop me from having a save where I can watch her suffer and die over and over again.

Or think that after the good ending Tenenbaum introduced Lamb's face to a wrench and then held her head under the water until the bubbles stopped.

Or that Cindy gave Lamb the same needle treatment that Fontaine got.

Or that Grace killed her, or Alex ate her...there are a lot of options.
