Thread: PC pause on weapons selection screen?

PC pause on weapons selection screen?

i know the PC version doesn't have it right now, but is there any chance it will be considered for a patch? i think this pause system is a major component of the Bioshock game play. i don't have the game yet but i am playing it at a friend's house and this change from the first one really changed the game play for me. i guess 2K is trying to impress the more hardcore FPS fans but i think the first Bioshock has introduced some players to FPS (me included). don't take out the system right now, just add an option for us who prefer to play it the old way.

Me and my Wife realy got used to this feature while playing Bioshock 1, it gave us, the not so fps pros, a real chance against greater number of enemys, to beat them, we were realy looking forward to Bioshock 2.

We started the game and were looking for the feature, just to find out its not there!

We now stopped playing, the games gets more crowded and filled with enemy and we cant handle the weapon selection especialy the ammo selection correctly in this hectig combat..

We realy hope they implement this screen in a further patch to the PC, we are not FPS pros, but we love the atmosphere and story of Bioshock and Rapture, but right now we get too stressed with the selection of weapons and its correct ammo and plasmids, there are too many to select with hotkeys for non-fps pros...

i feel the same way. i was never a big fan of FPS games mainly because i get motion sickness from them. i was very excited when i played the demo of the first Bioshock and did not get sick (i now know that it's because i can play FPS games just fine if the field of view is greater than 100 and apparently Bioshock 1 had it on default).

as a matter of fact, Bioshock was the first FPS game that i've ever finished. i remember how much they marketed the ability to pause on the first Bioshock and that really appealed to me. it still does as i'm playing Mass Effect 2 right now.

i felt that much of the weapons, ammo types, and plasmids were just going to waste because i can not select them on the fly. i have to make a selection before an anticipated big fight. the powerful weapons usually have very limited ammo and it almost always means that i'll have to change weapons in the middle of a big fight if i chose to start with one.

the excitement of getting new plasmids i felt from the first Bioshock was also gone. i obviously favor some plasmids over others but i don't mind using all of them if i am able to change between them easily. i even stopped buying new plasmids after i got the freeze. only halfway through the game i already accumulated 500+ Adams because i don't feel the need to spend them on anything new anymore.

i think making a change on a major component of the game play like that, 2K Games has isolated some of their fans. especially when the solution is as simple as an on/off toggle switch. as it is now, it feels like Bioshock 2 is trying too hard to be something else that it's not.

the first Bioshock was never intended/designed to be a hardcore FPS game. merely adding more enemies and taking out pause doesn't make it a hardcore FPS game especially with how limited the resources are compared to other FPS games. and not to mention the limited resource cap on each item. it just does not work!

2K don't listen, they have our money & now we don't count.
