Unhappy Mark Meltzer? - I don't get it

I used to follow every single detail at "There's Something In The Sea." Every single item Mark received from Rapture which at that time I used to believe that Cindy was the one sending those messages urging him to find her. I don't mean the complicated collectibles, but those childish doodles he found from time to time.

So, if all that was true, how come didn't Cindy recognize her father when he found her?
If not, who did then? And why?

Cindy probably didn't recognise him as she had been indoctrinated into the Lil' Sisterhood, seeing only Big Daddies as her chaperone.

I'm not sure but here's my guess. Those gifts and doodads were sent before Cindy went through the conditioning and hypnosis process. By the time Mark gets to Rapture, Cindy is inducted as a full-time sister.

She had been turned into a Little Sister by then.

    It's just doo-doo storytelling, that's why.

Thanks troll, did you have something helpful to add or are you just here to whine?

Look at all the other threads I've discussed this on. I'm just giving my simple conclusion without repeating myself. Didn't know I had to meet your standards? Guess it's a good thing I don't care anyway.

I'll say it again: it's doo-doo storytelling. How do you like that?

If I were the people in charge of SitS, I would be angry about the way their character got killed off.

I'm not so sure I agree, and you really didn't articulate your point. There are numerous explanations, you just need to read between the lines.

Wait what happened to Mark? I've played through the entire story and found only 3 Audio Logs on him. One about entering rapture. THe 2nd about encoutering a little sister. And the third I think was a meeting with Lamb. Did I overlook anything?

Again; check the other Mark Meltzer threads! I've more than articulated my points. It's just every time I see a new MM topic (we already have several) I get the urge to inject my succinct and frank opinion into it rather than repeat my whole spiel.

Trust me, I've been rather longwinded about the whole Mark Meltzer thing in other threads...

Actually, I think Liz is just excited that Mark was included in Bioshock 2 at all. If it weren't for Jordan Thomas deciding to add him in, the bloody scene on the Nellie Bly would be the last we hear of him. I'm personally sad that Mark died but it was inevitable. He received what he wanted, to be reunited with Cindy in the end.

Sigh... okay, I'll make this quick.

I don't disagree with the events that happened. I disagree with the fact they they weren't properly set up and were obviously inserted into the game at the last moment. They didn't make Mark turn into a Rumbler out of any dramatic genius, they did it 'cuz they didn't want to animate another character model or change the programming anymore. I mean, it's not like they had any EXTRA TIME to work on the game or anything...

I'm trying not to troll. I actually like the game all in all. I'm just really disappointed in what I have come to call "The Meltzer Cop-Out"...

Hey there new guy! Exactly how much time did you have invested in SitS?

I wouldn't call it a cop-out. My guess is that by the time they decided to include Mark in Bioshock 2, the story was already too advanced to change. They couldn't have made Mark an integral part of the story, especially for those who haven't followed SitS, and wouldn't understand half of his backstory. So instead they choose to add a few audio diaries to help give closure to his story.

But I'm sure you've already heard these arguments before, so I'm just going to let off right here. Everyone has their own opinions.

Yeah, Magic! I understand that exactly. I've even made my peace with it by now. I would have probably whined even harder if they left Mark out entirely.

I just can't stand by and let anyone say that it was a result of some brilliant stroke of writing, 'cuz that it was not!

But really... that's sort of a cop-out in my book. They could have mustered up SOMETHING more... I get the feeling a lot of stuff was only half thought out... but that is best left for other threads. Like I said, I was just putting my opinion out there.

Guys, thank you for all your replies. But I don't care about Meltzer's fate here. It's just the fact that something didn't work out really good. I mean when I try to put things in a logical order, something either is missing or doesn't make any sense. That's why I'm asking.

Those gifts are left by Eleanor. Meltzer is changed into a Big Daddy at Lamb's whim, as its the only way he can become her father again.

You must have missed his final audio log. He agrees to undergo the procedure to become the big daddy, its his only way to become her father again.
