I like Both but I have pancakes more then Waffles.
I like pancakes over waffles. However, I'm not much into breakfast foods, so stuff like ramen, rice, etc. are more to my tastes. Although I rarely turn down eggs, hash browns and sausage/bacon if offered.

They each have their upsides and downsides:
Waffles
Pros - syrup traps, unique texture, crunchy, go well with many different kinds of syrups
Cons - taste really funny if you burn them even a little, hard to smear butter on them evenly due to syrup traps
Pancakes
Pros - smooth, delicious texture, have that nice golden brown color when done perfectly, amazing with powdered sugar and cinnamon, you can add things to them (blueberries, M&M's, etc)
Cons - Easily burned which completely ruins the texture, the butter tends to run off the top if it melts too quickly
So as you see...it's not a question more than it's a dilemma. Preferences aside, they are both godly breakfast foods, to be enjoyed at all times of the day.
For your situation, I would suggest you have one of each in the morning (or whenever you like). I can see it would be a crime to make you choose.

Maybe because the restaurants just don't do justice to the pancakes up here. But the Eye-Hop does Waffles like no body's business!
