    ??? (???)

Those appear to be the 4. It also appears that they are slightly customized so that we can tell individual ones apart. If you look around, you can find a picture of a Rosie with a fancy back (two red and silver fan like things. Similar to an upturned trench coat).
Yes, I agree with that out of everything else suggested. I think that the names of the BDs will only be suggested by the general shape, all the Bouncers having a circular, uh..., head (?), the Rosies having a more human shape (just very large), and the Grapling Hook Guy (haha, I hope they're called that in-game, mwahahahaha) are the less armored ones. As for the fourth one, I have no idea, except that one mysterious picture I had before (!!!!!!).

    big daddies

i think that the different big daddies are for different areas and hardness'es but i''ve only seen two and on the offical website it indicates that there are 5 areas so maybe there are 3 different ones!?!

i believe the forth might be thehardest one that they havent told us about. Maybe the 4th BG is the protector of VERY important things, such as the only usable exit for Rapture, the top Little Sister, ect.. If thats true then that why they havent told us about it, cause they want us to be surprised when we go to escape at the end of the game and BAMMM we see this BD bigger then any before and outfitted to the max.

    Just an early morning thought.

yeah would be pretty freaky to eventually come across a BD with a giant frakking laser cannon strapped to it (or something along those lines)

but still maybe its a big daddy that instead of weaponry or melee attacks he instead is a more heavily armed and armoured splicer in other words on with more than one plasmid and has a suit of armour on just not the ultra thick stuff the others wear.

You know just because there are a lot of splicers and BDs in the achievements doesn't mean that that's all of them (secret achievements anyone?) as in the ??? achievements at the bottom, you didn't honestly think Irrational would save there secrets this long just to ruin them now would you? We've heard almost nothing of the last two levels, the baddies in the last 4, and the people of Rapture, that's alot of stuff there keeping back and don't expect to learn about any of it before Bioshock comes out. August 21st, keep a weather eye on the horrizon because it's on its way.

That's true. Cannot wait for the game. All that is 'unknown' at this point is making me want to play all the worse . Hopefully the last couple of levels further the already immense intrigue the game holds. And knowing Bioshock up to this point, I'm sure it will

I was watching the new video today and when the BD with the drill gets mad his face glows red. Do you think the other BDs will have a glowing portion to let you know you have ANGERED them.

Also if you notice the slpicers over time physicaly modified themselves too (i.e. Lady in green dress with a hook on her hand)......

Men in diving suits apparnetly existed before the war. We don't know that those people depicted in the sign are the same as what we encounter in the game. By your logic there were also little sisters before the war, and I severely doubt there were.

I think that sign was a a bit of humor created by the team.

The middle picture must have gotten scraped, cause we haven't seen anything about him. Maybe we will see him though....

Naa, its a little poster that shows big daddies and LS together before...like posters of how plasmids were used before, for everyday things...so little sisters already had a protecter before the war

Maybe the men in dive suits were workers that people hired to walk around with there kids because they didnt have time for them, like a Rapture Nanny, and over time the kids grew toards the men and when the war broke out they moddified themselves to make sure nobody harmed the little sister they loved.

Or maybe that picture was old... and got scraped... I don't think it will be in the final game, and if it is, it would be a joke. I'm positive that the LS was created after Rapture started to downfall, and I am almost positive that the BD was created around the same time.

Yeah, thats what I was talking about earlier, it's another example of BD individuality. (Anyone want to start talking about Ghist in the Shell? )
Although, it may mean that the BD is more of a badass...

Not sure if this has been mentioned before since I can't be bothered reading through the whole thread but here goes...

I've always thought of those "Gatling Daddies" as more like "Bash-the-crap-out-of-stuff Daddies".
If you look at them you can't see any actual barrels for what could be guns. They just look like heavy things to smash people.

    what he said

I also think it is a gun type thing

I heard something about them being angle grinders or something similar, but there is one thing that is evident that is the most important aspect about this big daddy armament, which is that it appears to be able to reduce you or any nearby threats to a pulp of similar consistency to a smoothy in a very brief span of time.

it would be funny if a main plot charactor in the game was really wimpy... and he talks a bunch of trash when someone (maybe like you or your enemy) is there to protect him... but once the protecter isn't doing as much protecting he pulls out a line (after doing considerable malicious damage in his past) something like can we all just be friends?

If that daddy hit you, it must take like half your health.

Yeah they're probably designed to smash through stuff and turn people into a considerably large splat on the wall.

All the melee based BD's can probably 'shell shock' you. Otherwise(as I think I said in another thread) it'd be too easy for you to dodge them all the time(except in really confined spaces)

Yea, making the BD too easy to kill..hit, run behind a post, wait for him to lunge, pop out shoot...so i think all BD can do shellshock. Well, the drill and bash-the-☺☺☺☺-out-of-stuff BD can both do it, no problem.

Those are called Bouncers. The other confirmed type of BD are called Rosies (they have rivet guns), and since they have... normal (as normal as they can be)... hands, I doubt that they can cause shell shock. Unless, maybe they stomp?

Look at the link a couple pages ago to the achivments page! The collecter one has 53 things, invent (Cool) Or get. Now with that you can probably bet thats how many our in the game.
(Normally in Xbox achivments, things arn't that specific, if it was like half or something it would be like 50, or 25, or something that dosen't end in a 3. Like in dead riseing how if you listen to the beginning guy, he says that their are 53,whatever whatever whatever people, and in the achivments its the same amount of people.)

(Seriously, give back the edit option!)
P.S: I think that the big daddy in the pic above is a electric kind, it looks like it has batteries on its arms connected to wires, and that one screenshot also helps my case.
