havok, link please of the screen shots with the 3rd big daddy. i've only seen the 3rd big daddy in one screen on ign which is like a character model thingy.

pureley speculation on the 3rd big daddy, it seems he has a hook as his left hand, and a crank + drill as his right hand. it's possible that he can hook yo with the hook, use his other hand to wind the crank to bring you towards him, and drill you, but who knows. lol

i've never seen that picture, yet i check the ign site like every other day and it says it's from ign.
that big daddy is by far the creepiest, and i love the way it looks. i can't wait to see how it holds up in battl.

Perhaps one of the devs could answer: has he been cut, or just altered?

Small? I don't think so, but it's hard to tell when he's kneeling. In any case, he's got a rocket launcher, so he wouldn't be a push over.

Another thought; maybe he's one of the higher level BDs (he does have a rocket launcher after all). The reason we haven't seen more of him might be because no-one has been allowed to release anything from that part of the game publicly yet.

  8. #48
It is a relatively small big daddy, when compared to the Bouncer or Rosie.

yes, Yam hands pwn. I forgot though, were they going to be splicers or were they just the begining concept arts for what a Big Daddy would look like? I hope yam hands are in the game.

    "Versions" of Big Daddy

Has anyone else noticed that in the videos we have seen, there appears to be several types of Big Daddy. I did a little hunting and found pics a few kinds.

Your basic "DrillDaddy" as seen in the XO6 trailer and on boxart:

What appears to be a "GatlingDaddy"

One of my personal favs, "BlenderDaddy." Ow!

    Either a "Flamedaddy" or "RivetDaddy"

    That's the types I could find. I didn't count differnt helmet/armor types.
I assume that they all have diffent attack types, health and speed.
Anyone have any more I missed?

I noticed that too, the Gatling Daddy looks interesting.

DOes anybody believe that the bid daddies were citizens of Rapture that took the modification to the next level. That they went past genetics and went into a physical altercation for the war?? I dont know seeing the pictures makes me think that they we once citizens. Also if you notice the slpicers over time physicaly modified themselves too (i.e. Lady in green dress with a hook on her hand)......

we have the 'rocket one' but I think they have a chance to not actually make it into the game

we only have like one screenshot with them in them, nothing else

That's why I've dubbed him 'Longshot'. That, and the fact that he appears to be weilding a rocket launcher.

I assume the ones with Rivet guns have different roles/powers/plot importanance others [aka bouncers]

Yeah except that middle one I posted was from a magazine cover a few months back. So that's fairly recent to be so prominantly featuring a big daddy they've scrapped. Who knows though.

I pretty sure the odd sluggish ones are in the game because there are a fair amount of screenshots in the fishery level up that have them and if the other one is on a magazine it has a fighting chance.

That GatlingDaddy looks huge. from that angle but dose look like the biggest one.

  29. #71
I think your "Gatling daddy" is actually an "electro daddy". I've seen other pics that make it appear that there are batteries attached to those globes on his arms. If I can find a clear pic I'll give a link.

  30. #72
Here's a couple of links to the daddy with the globes on his hands: http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/7...g_3549882.html
    http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/7...g_3924962.html

Looking closer, it may be that the globes spin and are meant for grinding. It could be the apparatus used to dig into the rock when Rapture was being built. The round bits do not appear to be barrels. So I guess he might be a "grinding daddy" instead.

So we are up to 6 confirmed types of Big daddy now:

    DrillDaddy
    ElectroDaddy (Thanks MF9000!)
    SmashDaddy (Thanks MF9000!)
    Longshot (w/rockets) (Thanks v.dog!)
    Rosie (Thanks koolgecko91!)
    BlenderDaddy

koolgecko91's post made me think back to the vid where the narrator suggests we (the character) could become a protector of the Little Sisters. Could it be that we can modify ourselves enough to actually become a Big Daddy, or at least something close? That would be epic.

    Keep looking!

there is two types the Rosie and the Bouncer rosie has the gun bouncer has the drill

  33. #75

    I disagree.

I think there's the Rosie model, the Bouncer model, and that grappling hook model. I think each base model has different weapon attachments, just like the splicers do. So that's 3, and if this article is accurate, there's a fourth.

'"There are four Big Daddy types," he adds. "The guy you fought with a drill called the Bouncer; there's a kind with a gun that tosses proximity mines." And two more, apparently, though Levine gets distracted explaining that the Bouncer's current move set -- including his ability to charge and stun the player -- was inspired by a video trailer Irrational created simply as a sizzle piece. BioShock has had the luxury of time, and Levine thinks it's a better game for it.'

Actually I think that the electro and smash are the same daddy type. The two pics look different, but I think the one with sparks is the smash being shot at. But who knows for sure. I wouldn't want to tangle with any of the BDs at close range.

That very well could be. We can change and upgrade weapons, no reason to think the BDs couldn't be outfitted with variations on weapon types/themes. It could also be that Ken didn't tip his hand and just isn't mentioning other types of BDs we might encounter. It wouldn't be any fun if he spilled all the beans. I think we'll find that there are still quite a few surprises that haven't and won't be mentioned about Bioshock.

Bouncer (drill, X shaped drill, rock crushing bits).
Rosie (Rivet gun, possible flame thrower).
Grapling Hook Guy (I'm calling him "Captain Hook") (Hook, Tuba shaped contraption (possible a rocket launcher)).
    ??? (???)

Those appear to be the 4. It also appears that they are slightly customized so that we can tell individual ones apart. If you look around, you can find a picture of a Rosie with a fancy back (two red and silver fan like things. Similar to an upturned trench coat).
