    Where were the ghosts???

    Hey again guys,

I forgot i missed this out in my personal review so thought i would ask this in a new thread rather than add it to my original.

throughout the entire game i saw no "ghosts" or remnants of people from adam consumption. Were these intentionally left out, if so why? did i have a dodgy copy, or were they forgot like the sounds to the vending machines????

i must say without them and much of the 50's music some of the rapture spirit was lost for me

    Cheers
    Chris

KurtC - Yes from the advertisement there were ghosts displayed dancing in a hall. That is false advertisement right there i tell you!!!

Yeah, what's up with the ghostal absenteeism?

Yet another atmospheric element that was overlooked...

The ghosts were only in the first game because Levine was trying to make Underwater SS2. The ghosts in SS2 were little more than an "Ohh, spooky" contrivance in the first place.

Wilko - ADAM still has psycho-residual properties, and the storyline makes use of that. didn't you notice?

Yes i noticed it in the way it cut out to have elanor voice over a sequence but it wasnt the same and it happened very infrequantly. It wasnt very spontanious and it was in line with the main story line. The ghosts in Bio1 were mostly random which added to the atmosphere.

But painman, if the ghosts were only in the first one because of ken, then why were they so prominent in the main TV adversiement?

Dude, the whole series is tied to System Shock! We NEED those ghosts. It'd be like getting rid of vending machines or security cams...

Because you're reading into the TV spot too much?

I most probably am PM your right, however when i advertise products i do not 'fluff' an advert with something it has not got.

My gripe is not with the advert but with the game.

The ghost sequences were cool in BS1 I liked them better than the recorded messages for telling parts of the story, wonder why they left them out of BS2.

This is an example of "you can't please everyone." BioShock as a series must either evolve and grow or stay rooted where it is, and no matter which it chooses it'll receive flak of it.

For those opposed to change, remember SS2 was a huge departure from the original.
