Hey guys!

Our budding cult is growing, and will continue to grow, and I welcome that. In light of this, I'm adding new moderators and trying to get a handle on some stricter rules of decorum.

I will be more aggressively closing threads and editing posts that are overly violent, graphic, or vulgar.

We want the 2K forums to be an inclusive and friendly place where all people feel safe and free to post, and not worried about reading very disturbing matter.

I know there is a lot of speculation about what you can and cannot do in the game, and we are working diligently to release lots of information to feed your questions and make you excited for BioShock. However, please try and keep your speculations in-line with a forum where a lot of people come to talk.

For example, posting about doing harm to Little Sisters in game will get deleted from here on out. You do have a choice in-game whether to save or harvest a Little Sister, but I don't want to start silly rumors about bad things you can do to them in-game. So let's all work towards spreading the word of BioShock and making sure people understand what this game is REALLY about -- an awesome, dynamic shooter with lots of choice!

2K releases an official video that ends with the player approaching a Little Sister while armed with a wrench. The developers have stated that progress in the game requires the acquisition of a resource known as "Adam" which can be obtained from Little Sisters by violent means.

When you say "harvest a Little Sister" you do mean "kill" don't you?

Yet "posting about doing harm to Little Sisters in game will get deleted from here on out". Sounds like someone in the executive offices is scared of bad publicity.

All good points, but this is actually a post coming from me, as forum admin, rather than an executive.

This isn't just about talking about Little Sisters in game, which is fine and good and I encourage. They are a huge part of BioShock and I think we should discuss them a lot -- they are a new concept! But there have been some other posts which go above and beyond appropriateness. This is not the place to talk about doing violence to children, including torture, rape, and other nastiness. I can assure you these things will not be in game.

I agree with this new policy,some of the remarks posted have been in the worst possible taste,and regardless of whether the little sisters are virtual or not,we live in a terribly knee jerking and reactionary society and I would hate to see my beloved BIOSHOCK victimised and branded as endorsing the mistreatment and exploitation of children.Lets keep things decent guys.

I think a lot of this will rely on common sense. I would try and refrain from cursing although that's not a huge must.

This isn't about being silly or rude -- I am very liberal and don't want to censor. I just want to be sure that people understand extreme cases will get shut down.

Oh, I see, I mentioned the unmentionable, while the far more graphical and gruesome statements earlier in the thread were OK.

At least I had the sense to only point at sadistic violence and leave the rest to the imagination.

The possibility of doing lots of horrible things to Little Sisters follows naturally from the game rules. Thankfully the devs aren't naive or crazy enough to allow the more extreme stuff.

Agreed. As for the rest of the post that is. Most people here are pretty good about things. Sometimes, it's the things said for 'shock' value or things go a bit too far. Anyways, hope to hear some more GOOD news soon!

No it doesn't, but I have to question why you would even bring the more sick aspect of rape into the conversation. I certainly hope that's not how you view all little girls you see walking around in the real world. It's fine to talk about the morality of killing or not an LS, but what would raping them have anything to do with getting the adam they carry? The short answer "nothing". It's just a sick and twisted thing to even consider. And to address the other horrible things in the thread, they are very disturbing. Especially the amount of detail some have gone into which really isn't necessary in order to discuss the moral issue. Unfortunately using the little girl (the innocent) image as a way of challenging our morals brings out a few sadistic sickos that have twisted fantasies. I am glad the IG isn't going to allow total freedom when it comes to hurting the LS's. We don't need to give any more fuel to the antigamers.

As I have said the other descriptions are sick as well. However, I don't think anybody saw your comment as "tongue-in-cheek", otherwise I don't think we would need this thread do you? You found the line and crossed it. You have a pretty sick sense of humor if you think what you wrote was funny to any degree. Perhaps you need to talk to someone about why you think rape is "funny". I hope, and I am sure they will, the moderators will keep a closer eye on what goes on in the forums.

It certainly wasn't meant to make anybody laugh. I just went along with the sick tone of the thread, only a bit more tasteful than the bonfire and pie. I was being sarcastic, and made fun of the presented idea of playing to murder in creative ways.

Why would people assume that: (1) I was actually upset () because I won't be able to rape and get extra "evil points" for it and (2) stupid/crazy enough to admit it?

How many forums have you been on?

I'm a member of 5 forums, one I don't go on because I can't since the Email adress I signed up with no longer exists and I need that email address to go on that one, I'm a member of Nintendo.com and I looked though those forums but haven't posted that one is good aswell, I posted on TV.com, MP3.com, and Gamespot.com since once your a member of one they automatically make you a member of all of them, and I also posted on IGN but I don't like how I have to post, out of all of them I post in Gamespot.com alot since I've been a member there since 2005.
