We were told that Gil Alexander would live up to Sander Cohen's crazy factor. Did the character deliver?
Cohen was Better
They're equally insane.

He was supposed to be the new Cohen? 2k, i am disappoint. I was wondering when a "character like Sander Cohen" would appear, and I was left a bit disappointed in that regard by the end.
Cohen was insane. Gil is plain stupid.
btw i don't know why you have to save him (along with grace abd train guy) in order to unlock the Savior achievement... what distorted morality do the developers have?
I think they're both equally insane. If you look at them side by side, they're both similar and different in many ways, so it's hard to compare them. But if in the end I had to choose one over the other, it'd be Cohen. The fact that he was human (well, as human as you can be in Rapture) led way to some very interesting interactions between him and Jack. Despite all of this, they are both well thought out characters and perfect for the fallen utopia that is Rapture.
Steinman was easily the best insane character in Rapture
Buuut, since he's not an option i'd go with Cohen, I didn't really think any BS2 characters were as good as the ones from BS1.
Gil's an ungly son ***** :P
Cohen wasn't even that crazy, he lived in a dream. I liked him cause of that he relates to everyone who lives out that dream to be immortal and remembered forever.
Gil on the other hand was funny, he made me laugh when he kept singing![]()
I personally liked Gil better. It was so strange seeing that little bot staring at me and talking haha. And from his audio diaries he seemed like a good guy. It's interesting seeing someone go that crazy when they seemed like such a smart nice guy before. Was it an optical illusion in the tank or was he really huge? I couldn't tell but my first thought was "Wow how the hell is he that big"
Cohen was the best when i first saw gil alexander i thought hey maybe this guy is like cohen but this dude is just outa the box he acts as 2 people lol

Cohen is a much more compelling character. He's always been a little crazy, but he can find beauty among all the craziness of Rapture. Also he's the only character I can think of in Rapture that is an artist (not counting musicians). Gil is rather boring before he goes through the treatment, but it is interesting to see the difference between the sane one and the insane one. I also thought it was cool that he helped you kill himself, but why would he have done it if he thought that might happen to him? I know he left the messages once it started, but I still think it's a little weird.
Cohen I think was overall the more enjoyable character to deal with. Though Alex the Great was consistently more funny.
Sander Cohen was a far better character. I hated that entire area of the game, I thought it was a bit ridiculous. It seemed out of place, and like it belonged in a silly sci-fi game, rather than Bioshock 2.
Gil Alexander was more funny and had a more compelling back story, yet Cohen had the benefits of his "art" rather then just being simply insane like Alexander was.
Equal for me.
Being inhibited by a madman vs helping a madman create his (last) work of art
Decrepit office building vs Fort Frolic
The choice was clear in my eyes
Hmm... Well, I think they were insane in different ways, sort of?
One thing that I've always liked in Bioshock is that when you're introduced to insane characters, you find audio diaries of them from when they weren't insane. With that, you're able to see the unbelievable contrast between their sane selves and their crazy selves.
That's why I loved Steinman in the first game. You saw his complete deterioration through his audio diaries that were lying around.
And with Gil, you heard ADs from his sane self while his current self was griping in your ear.
It was -fantastic- oAo;
Sander Cohen, however, always seemed a little off. Even in his "sane" audio diaries, there was a little bit of an undertone as fame and constant criticism was taking its toll on him while his promised paradise was collapsing.
....Okay, so, I guess by that logic, Cohen might be more insane because he was -always- insane? xDD;
I think there both insane but Alex is more lol you see how big he was in the tank! and the robot he controled was awsome, but cohen never sent alpha big daddies on you now did he? lol Alex FTW
