The main reason why Achievements still work when these cheats are used is because LIVE isn't expecting any cheats to be used like this. If Live is disabled (like fallout 3) then obviously achievements are disabled (however if you know the command for the console you can just put them in) or if you have to use a console to enter the cheats, but since you enter them in using the .ini files, LIVE just regards them as the regular game commands and goes on it merry way.

I should try the research cheat, one of the most annoying parts of the game imo. (hated it in 1 too)

hey isn't the game better without cheat codes ????? oO

i mean the aspect of Bioshock was to discover and crush enemies...or just escape from Rapture...soooo the aspect of putting cheat codes is ruining the aspect of the game :/
    no ?

if you beat it already, its just fun to well, have fun in outlandish ways, could also be used to allow you to fully take in Rapture without having to worry about a splicer around the corner

Here's a tip, don't max out your research until after you get the camera lol. I did, and now I've broke my save game, since it's a plot point in 2 different places.

So you could set the FOV to 360? xD

While this is true for many new to the game... replayability can be lost after the 20th restart. Other times you feel limited or just plain bored with the specifics. These codes make killing fun again... also, you tend to feel more like a big daddy who can use plasmids.
