Bioshock 2 wont start in DX10 mode
I have Bioshock 2 through Steam. I am using Windows 7 64-bit with the newest nvidia drivers.
When I start the game it locks up in a black screen. When I Ctrl-alt-del to get out, it says Bioshock has stopped working.
To get the game to start up I must force dx9 mode (adding the -dx9 command to the exe).
How do I fix this to play in DX10 mode? I have already tried updating my DX from microsoft. dxdiag says I have DX10.
DX10 is being detected, otherwise Bioshock 2 wouldnt try to load in DX10 mode.
Also, I got a free copy of the original Bioshock from Steam, and it has the same problem.

What's your graphics card?

Not sure what the technical problem is, but i wouldn't worry about dx10. I have run in dx10 and dx9, and done many comparisons and I can see no real difference between the dx9 and dx10 graphics.

same
I have the same issue with a store bought copy, an 8600 GTS with Vista 32-bit and the latest drivers. when it finishes the starting cinematic, the sound cuts out and it hits a black screen.

I have GTX 260s in SLI.
DX10 has some sort of improved textures. It bothers me that I am not able to play in DX10, regardless of whether it makes a big difference or not.

Yeah, I know what you mean. It's frustrating that a game that just came out has this kind of glaring issue.

On my drop down menu it doesn't even mention dx10, on all my other games it does.

Which drop down menu are you referring to?

bioshock 2 does not like d3doverrider to force triple buffering. i am using the d3doverrider that came with rivatuner 2.24c.
if d3doverrider is not forcing triple buffering in the bioshock 2 exe file, then the game will load up.
