    Weapon- M1 Garand

Hey mafia 2 fans! I myself find the M1 Garand one of the best weapons from Mafia 2's time period. So can anyone confirm that the weapon is in the game?

You must look at your thread like this:
Was there a use for a rifle for the mob?I mean if we aim towards realism they need something that can be concealed and effective...

I'd agree with you if I didn't know there's an MG42 in the game

Well i would say yea. Maybe M1 Garand isn't the easiest one to conceal, but what about tommy gun? Its as big as the M1 Garand lol. It would be a good shooting weapon from distances, i mean "tommy guns" and thompsons would be good for a close fighting. I've heard of mafia using M1 garand from mafia2's time period..

Just saw it off, put a strap on it, and put it under your shoulder. That's what Clyde Barrow did with his Browning Auto 5. He called it the Whippit.

I don't think so, if you compare it with a Tommy gun, that waste .45 caliber rounds like water.
With one good placed shot from a M1 Garand will kill your enemy instantanly whereas from a Tommy gun will take more shots to drop him dead, specially a medium-long ranges.
The M1 Garand, for balance reasons, is not generally portrayed well in videogames, because in real life it's almost as accurate and powerful as a, for example, Springfield M1903. The M1 is perhaps one of the best semi-auto battle rifles ever created, that's why General Patton liked it so much, and he wasn't a bullsh!tter.
While it's true that it wasn't very used by mobsters, they did used it for some special missions along with sniper rifles and silenced pistols.
Also, the police used them to some extent when they need accuracy and firepower.

PS: Watch this video and see what a M1 Garand is capable of: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34RqMoyMZmI

Im not shure about the thompson! I liked it because it was powerfull in the way that it would do damage on close and at distance.BUT....
There was one problem (for me) I was foreced to use it as single shooting so i could Hit the enemy!Every time iwould shoot the gun would jump UP! very desturbing.!I would apreceate even if its not realistic because i havent used a thompson yet but that when you fire you should have some difficulty like lets say it moves a bit so you dont hit every time.
In this way you donthave to worry to much about geting out of bullets, because you would hit more often and much faster!

Ps: I used singel shooting because wanted to have bullets if something goes wrong.

I agree with the single shooting. Although I did it so that I shot, let the sights settle back on target and then shot again. This way I could still get a consistent rate of fire on the target so that they couldn't move while I was inflicting damage on them.

However, if you take control of the reticle even when you're holding down the fire button/key, you can still ensure almost perfect accuracy even when you're firing at full blast. You just need to know where to move the mouse/control stick in order to keep it on the target regardless of recoil.

Personally, I thought this was an awesome replication in the game and there isn't too much I'd change about it. Making it any easier would dumb down the gameplay to the point where you're not as immersed in the gunplay as you were in the first game. Also, remember that 2K said they weren't going to have a massive amount of enemies in each area so I'd prefer that its more difficult to take down a few enemies than making it simple to take down a platoon of mobsters.

That is what i was talking about. The only way was to do as you wrote.
By a change i meant like for ex a machean gun. Its easier to aim but at the same time not to easy. And at last you get more Action out of it!. Ididnt like the way the thompson was going Upwords! That iself was making it Even harder to aim.Because you where forced to whait that little moment so you get the aim on the target again.

I hope i was clear there
