flames are messed up

I just started bioshock, and on the first level, while i'm in the water, the flames are just rainbowy textures. I played teh demo with no problems at all, i'm not sure what is causing it. I also downloaded the latest Nvidia drivers. Any suggestions?? Please.

I'm not sure why it doesn't seem obvious to post your hardware, OS, driver versions ("latest" is not sufficient, no, not even with your nVidia drivers)

1 gig o' memory.

Did you try turning off basically every options in the settings?

Yea, i turned off everything. still looks like junk.

When i start, for about a second it all looks normal, then it just messes up.

So any ideas from anyone? I really wanna play, but this issue is preventing from moving anywhere.
